Default Weird trans problem

Alright guys, ever since i've had this car i've been struggling with a transmission problem in general. It's on its 3rd or 4th transmission right now, can't really keep track , but this is my latest issue.

When shifting, into reverse the transmission shifts fairly smooth and it has complete power, but after that, if i shift to neutral then into drive, the transmission doesn't work properly and it jerks into drive. there's very little power, it only shifts once, feels like its in 2nd to 3rd or something. When coming to a stop, it'll downshift harsh as well. I checked trans fluid in neutral and it is normal.
Now here's what is stumping me. If I go from Reverse, straight to low, then d2 and then drive, the transmission shift completely normally in every gear. downshifts are fairly normal from what I can remember once upon a time i had a working transmission. I just received the computer from being repaired so i know thats not the issue. What could be causing this, any ideas? Thanks in advance. If anyone has any more questions just let me know.

The trans is from a 1992 dohc motor, f4a33-1 small axle if that matters.
