Default Tcm's interchangable?

Are the Tcm's interchangeable in the different generations. I have had the no o/d problem like others out here. When I pulled my tcm and opened it there is acid on the board from bad capacitors. Where is good place to get it rebuilt or can i purchase a tcm off Ebay and trust it. Are there any differences in the 3 gens. The part # on the case is md740087. It is from a 92gtsl. Will replacing this fix my slipping out of O/D problem It does just fine as long as the o/d is turned off. When on it doesn't even try to hit 2nd sometimes. It goes from 1st to 3rd then won't come out of 3rd until O/D is turned off. This gt has been a royal pain in my ass. I just replaced the Ecu because it would develop a mind of its own. After shutting off you had to pray it would start. Most times it would but if it didn't, you had to sit 15 minutes or so then it would fire perfect. I put the Ecu from R/T in it 1 problem down. Now this I haven't even got the ABS straightened out yet or the Ecs. Seems every damn computer is dying on this thing. My stealth is a 5 spd so I don't have a tcm to swap to check this one out. My wife had to have this one. I just wish it ran like my stealth. Eventually It will if I don't pull my hair out with all the problems that have developed with this car.
Thanks for any help that can be offered.

Default Re: Tcm's interchangable?

I have the same question. Mine is a 92 Stealth weird problem. I bought a tcm from a place in Florida on E-bay. When I put it in the car stayed in safe mode. When I check the diagnostics connector the meter shows solid 10 volts. So after I verifed all of the wiring to the TCM I took a chance and bought a tcm module form a local junkyard. It is a MD739228 which is for a SOHC and mine is a DOHC which takes a MD740087. The junkyard module seems to work fine but I wonder about the shift points. I have since returned and retried modules from the E-bay vendor 4 times now with the same problem each time. Help!!!
