3s in florida!

I spent 2800$ to have a reputable local shop rebuild my tranny. They said they had a bunch of problems with it but finally got it done. Someone(at the shop who blamed it on me) ran something large over and destroyed my tranny pan and did damage to that side of the car so I drove it with no tranny fluid for about 500 miles not knowing it. Took it back and said fix the pan and fill it. They did this. I'm still having bad clunks when I give her a lil kick in the butt. BAD clunks. I took it back to the shop and they say its all good. Sometimes when I drive before it shifts it revs a bit before the shift, sometimes when I stop at a light it doesn't shift back down to first so I start off in third gear. I'm exhaust with this damn thing. For someone who makes 9$ an hour, 2800 is a lot to put in a car that since buying I've just now put 5000 miles on.(Bought over a year ago) Maybe IPT will read this and help me? I have a warranty with all ATRA shops but I want to get this fixed, I KNOW the tranny isn't right and I'm getting no help with this. Does this sound like a normal rebuilt tranny? It really clunks and it seems like it doesn't shift right 9/10 times.

man i feel for you i have had tranny problems in both my 3000gts but i know for a fact that your problem is serious the slipping before the shift is indication that the clutch packs are damaged probbaly by the no fluid issue i would take back to the shop and demand they fix it or replace it .. good luck

You NEED to have them pull the tranny apart and find the problem. Back in the day(4 years ago) my old '97 had its ATX rebuilt and when it was finished, they sent me home that night with ZERO transmission fluid in the car. Needless to say, I didn't even make it home that night and after paying $3,300 I was not happy.
Anyway, to make a long story short, I was never able to get them to check and see if anything was seriously damaged. All they did was flush the system and send me on my way. 12,xxx miles and 15 months later, I had to spend another $3,000 to have it rebuilt again. It is very important to either get them to fix the issue, or sue them and have a mitsu dealer fix it for them.

I'm having the same problem I just spent $1900 for a full rebuild on my automatic tranny as well, I get the car last week drive it 20 minutes and the tranny breaks down.
I had to tow the car back to the transmission shop, now the owner is telling me well I don't know whats wrong with it we checked everything and replaced a couple sensors, basically there telling me now to get the car towed to the dealership and have them work on it. Well what the hell did I give you guys almost $2000 for, to rebuild a tranny that was in fine cond. already, I don't know what I should do now either and I am basically broke because I blew 2 grand on something I didn't need, even though the transmission shop verbally insisted a rebuild would solve all the tranny problems!!!!

93' Stealth Es dohc

I HAD the same problem with my 93 stealth last year. Turned out to be the "Pulse Generators". Pulse Generator "A" measures the "input" RPM to the transmission after the Torque Converter. Pulse Generator "B" measures the "output" RPM of the transmission before entering the differential. So they basically tell the tranny when to shift at given RPMS. If they are bad, tranny goes into "limp mode" (stays in 2nd gear). They aren't hard to replace and the cost is minimal. They come as a set. About 90.00. One is located behind the passenger wheel under the tranny. You'll see a wire coming from it. It's about the size of a spark plug. The other is on top of the tranny, by the neutral safety on the same side under the air intake housing. Only 1 screw holds the A & B pulse generators in. These can be purchased at almost any Auto parts store. It's a good place to start.
I currently have a tranny issue. It started with my speedometer gear going bad (broken teeth) and me driving it like that. No speedometer reading. Now, my tranny is acting up. Not shifting into other gears, banging, and sometimes reving in between gears and sometimes not shifting at all. But, my pulse generators are good. I replaced the speedometer cable/gear, and it seems alittle better, but still doing the same things. I smelled the fluid, it 's burnt. Wonder if changing the fluid would help? Dunno.
