My question is exactly 'how' is this pressure washing device going to be able to get all of the old oil out of the TC? Am I missing something?

I can't see how it would be pointless if you do manage to get ALL of the oil out with the pressure flush system including the oil in the TC. Thats why I asked, "Am I missing something?" - I mean if the pressure flush DOES force the oil out of the TC then how is it pointless? If the pressure flush WOULDN'T flush it all out of the TC, then I can see why a pressure flush would be pointless, but I'm not sure I understand why flushing is pointless from what you said.

Thats exactly what I'm hoping to find out. So far I haven't heard back from the people. I'll probably just end up calling them.

Ok, would you please post your findings once you get ahold of them?

I didn't know you flew to the NG and I didn't know you started the Nawlins chapter. Granted, you're more dedicated than me, I'm just moving across the country to be with my new chapter.

great info here. thanks.

I DO HAVE A QUESTION .... my stealth has 160k miles on it. i purchased it at 90k. i have never added any fluid to it (shame on me, i know). the fluid level is normal. however, it has began to develop a slight slip between 2nd and 3rd gear. i checked the fluid color is not exactly like new. it still has a reddish color, but it does look dirty. i know i have not properly maintained the atx since i have not ever changed the fluid during the 70k miles for which i have owned the car. now that it has developed this slip, i am wondering what is the best way to remedy this situation, if any. i am considering changing the fluid and filter myself as it appears to be a fairly easy job. however, i have heard stories from people who say if your atx fluid has already become dirty/burnt, changing it will actually reduce the life of the atx. i would like to eliminate the slipping, but i do not want to do anything that would worsen its condition. if anyone has experience with this situation, please share your experiences/opinions/comments.

i have been considering the following options:
1) change filter and gasket and REUSE the atf that was drained (and top off with lucas transmission fix fluid)
2) change filter and gasket and fill with new atf3 or atf4 fluid (and top off with lucas transmission fix fluid)
3) change filter and gasket and fill with new atf3 or atf4
4) drain some fluid and top off with lucas transmission fix fluid
5) do nothing and hope for the best

i am also wondering if using b&m trickshift fluid would be a better fluid for my atx.

all suggestions/opinions/comments welcome!

0. None of this may matter if you have hardware failing, but what da hey.
1. I've never heard of anyone reusing their old tranny fluid due to age. If anything it seems that would just make your life even more miserable because putting crappy fluid back in isn't going to improve life. Sure there is this thing where people say to leave the old fluid in after having gone so long, but I don't buy it 100%.
2. Never put any FIX IT FLUID in you tranny. Yer just asking for trouble. And by fix it fluid, i mean stuff that promises to fill gasket seals and/or restore smoother shifting. My 2 cents.
3. I'd choose your option 3 or do what I was saying I wanna do to my car in this thread:

1. Buy SeaFoam Trans Tune and some shitty Tranny fluid
2. Drain the old fluid, get the shreds of metal off the magnets, Remove/Drain the old filter
3. Put all old crap back on (filter and whatever) except with new gasket
4. Fill with shity tranny fluid leaving enough space for Sea Foam Trans Tune
5. Top off with Sea Foam Trans Tune
6. Drive maw maw style for however many miles it says to drive it for. I can't recall; make sure you shift thru all gears a few times to spread the love.
7. After drive; drain all the new shitty fluid and trans tune
8. Take off old filter; remove shreds of metal from magnets if there
9. Put on same new CLEANED gasket or have an extra NEW gasket to put on. I'm 50/50 on this one.
10. Close 'er up. Fill with BigTyla's fluid of choice Castrol ATF+3.
*11. Order Topline Engineering's ATX tranny cooler and really extend the life of your tranny.

How I might change my steps? I might buy the tranny cooler first and I might try to drain just enough tranny fluid from my old fluid so that I can dump in the Trans Tune into the current OLD fluid thereby only having to refill once with the good stuff OR maybe I should fill with Trans Tune in the old fluid first, drain, fill with shitty fluid alone, drive, drain (to sorta flush the residual old fluid and trans tune that might be left over), then fill with the good stuff.

Summary: If I were in your shoes I wouldn't just sit on it. I'd probably seafoam trans tune the old fluid, drive, drain, fill with shitty fluid, drive, drain, and then fill with the good stuff ALL while driving MAW MAW style till after the good stuff was in after about 500 miles or so. Why 500? Dunno, I just picked a number. LOL - You just need to give the ECU some learning time with the new fluid and shift times/points.

Hope all that helped.

FYI - I still plan on finding out about the tranny fluid FLUSHING system and reporting back to this thread.

Thats gotta be one of the most rediculous things I've ever read on 3Si. Don't take it personal.

If your gears are sticking, or getting some weird shit going on with your atx, go try and getting it flushed. Good chance it may fix your problem. Unless of ofcoarse people like pulling trans just to find out they had stuck valves from junk being built up in it. I've had my ATX for 10 years 130,000 miles on it. Original. I've had two ATX 3/S plus other cars durring my life that are ATX. Never had a problem. *knocks on josh's head :P

When you change your filter or whatever, PUT NEW FLUID IN IT. To reause fluid that has never been changed (talking 15 years for some of you) and put it back in the car is stupid. Fluid breaks down, like engine oil. Would your reuse your engine oil after putting on a filter?

Also a tranny flush isn't just about putting it on an aircompressor. It cycles the fluid out using pressure and vac. It cycles for 25 minutes, its getting crap out of there.
