With the shfter in drive position and the switches controling the shift solenoids.
ok.
Whoever replaced their selector switch and noticed an improvement, take the thing apart and post pics on here. I want to see what "failed" inside the switch.
Did you use a tester and check the pinouts to verify there was actually a problem with the switch? I smell the fallacy of false cause around here...

unable to comply.
missing required inquiry parameters.
i do not have the switch anymore... i replaced it almost 2 months ago...
with every automatic car i've driven, there has been a delay with the 1-2 gear change.
let me extrapulate...
on cold start-up, the transmission changes gears at a higher rpm, this event is significantly noticeable with the 1-2 gear change.
this event happens once maybe twice, depending on whether or not i have to come to a complete stop in a short distance/time.
don't tell me this isn't normal, when i've test driven several NEW cars that exhibit this characteristic.
many transmission control modules will hold 1st out longer when the car is cold to get the cats up to temp sooner. This has nothing to do with the torque converter "warming up"

The only thing manual on the 3s auto is the Reverse lever afaik. You can control it completely electronically, save for reverse. You need the shifter for the arm on the reverse lever. I know this because I am debating putting the manumatic in my 97.
I went over this with Bret.. Clutch lock up is controlled by a switch, the gears are controlled by button selection. All forward gears work this way, the only thing mechanical is reverse
