Angry ATX Problem(s) HELP!

I bought my car at 91k miles. When I test drove it I noticed it had trans issues right from the get go. When I put it in Drive and hit the gas, the car would move about half a foot and kind of "pause" (front end of the car dipped down) and then would take off fine.

At 101k miles, the trans died completely. I had it rebuilt for $2400. It now has 104k, and the problem is coming back. Another problem is when it downshifts at around 20mph, into first, the front end of the car dips down and it almost feels like the trans jams for a second. The shop that rebuilt it gave me a 1-year warranty. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Take the car back to the shop tell them you spent over 2k on the car and your having the same problem as when you brought the car to them, have them check it out and since they warrantied the tranny they have to cover it.

There's probably a problem with the valve body and/or solenoids. Ask the shop if they looked over or fixed the valve body. There may be valves sticking or something like that. This caused your tranny to self destruct once, so if left alone, it will probably happen again.

You may want to check your fluid level first. If it's low, refill and look for leaks.

I agree 100%. Check the fluid level and for leaks. It sounds valve body related. Unless you specify, most shops that rebuild these transmissions do not mess with the valvebody. It sounds like they should have checked this in the first place. Hopefully the warranty works out for you.

End clutch is probably toast. Overdrive is 4th gear which is the end clutch. When you turn it off, the transmission wont engage in this gear. When it is on, the car may try to shift but will shift to "nothingness" as the gear is not working.

For whatever reason, the end clutch likes to fail. Its most likely a result of improper cooling. I would look into an upgraded end clutch. Alto made one (I think they still do) and I would google that (Alto end clutch). I have had mine for over 5 years and it has not gone out yet.

You can get an end clutch here:
IPT Performance Transmissions Torque Converters and Transmission Parts for Ford, GM, Chrysler, and Import vehicles

Replacing it is a pretty easy job. Messing with the valve body is a bit tougher.
