Default 97 3kgt sl tranny worries

OK im stuck with a single problem. i drive a 97 3000gt SL. It has 119k on it and is in amazing condition. Although im beginning to beleive the transmission is slipping from 2nd to 3rd. WHen im driving slow(as in casuel not in a racing manner) this slip will occur minerly but nothing to serious right now. When im gassing it the slip never happens. YOu would think it would be worse but its not. And when i manuelly shift it the slip never happens at all. Whats the deal.
I have popped my hood and checked my tranny fluid and it is full as far as i can tell. When i look at the transmission you can clearly see a black gunk. SO my other thought is i may have a busted seal or not enough tranny fluid. I can post pics if anyone needs them. Just let me know.
If anyone has any suggestions plz let me know! I just bought this car and its going to be mine for a very long time! And sorry if someone had made a topic like this! I checked before i made this topic i just couldnt find anything like it.

hmm. sounds like you need at least a transmission flush which consisting of new fluid and a new filter. (local mitsu dealer will charge about $100), or you can buy the oil and filter from autozone/pepboys and do it yourself.

filter is underneath the tranny oil pan, about 12-13 bolts to remove if i remember right. our atx uses Dexron ATF

IPT is your best friend for all 3s auto needs. they specialize in our transmissions.

what i would do:

get the flush done then drive around see if its better, chances are it will be ok after that. if not, its possible that the end clutch has gone, or the solenoids are on their way out.

BE CAREFUL DRIVING IT IF IT IS SLIPPING. Please describe this slip further. ATX tranny problems are much cheaper if fixed early, I would advise getting this fixed quickly. I waited until mine didn't work and ran a bill of $3000 to fix

I have the 95 SL model and I had the same problem. I got a transmission flush. The bad part is though, after the flush I found out that the particular garage I brought it to doesnt change the tranny filters for "liability reasons." 4 weeks later, my transmission seized and the front tires were locked. $2300 for a fix.

Get it flushed and make sure they do the filter also.

how much would autozone/strauss/napa charge to do the flush and filter?
