Thumbs up Solution for: Radio Security Unlock Code Anti-Theft

Like many I didn't recieve the code for my radio when I bought the vehicle. I thought I would pass on some stuff I learned:

1.) Call 888-Mitsu2005. Press 1, then 4. Hours are M-F 6am-5pm PST. They asked for my VIN, Radio Model Number and radio serial number. Asked for my name and address. If you are legit, this is the fastest way to get your code. This service is free!

2.) I came across http://www.mitsubishi-forums.com/t22...adio-codes.htm This fine person is providing the service free of charge . You don't need to provide your VIN, just radio model number and radio serial number. He seems to answer your request within 24 hours (usually less). He does have an email address which you can find searching the thread (out of respect for his time and inbox, I'm not going to post it here). To avoid wearing out our welcome, I would urge you to use option 1 first.

A BIG to Kris!

Note: I asked this person's permission and his response was "no problem at all... im kind of used to it. i get calls like that every day. if you want to post the link that would be fine."

3.) If you don't like these options, try one of the other methods on this site.

4.) If you don't know how to find your radio model number and serial number, search this site as well. The short version is remove the bezel around the radio by carefully prying it out. I used a small putty knife with electrical tape covering the blade (to prevent scratches) to get mine off. Then remove the four screws and the radio should come right out. Model and serial number are on the radio. Some say you can see the numbers without removing the radio.

Good thread. If - like me - you are now wondering how to actually enter your code, here's how to do it:

Hello,

I've bought a Mitsubishi 3000GT SL from the USA. When the car arrived in Holland, the battery was dead, so no radio. They already tried three times to ''unluck'' it, so if je want to turn the radio on, the displays shows : '' off'' . Who can help me with this? No one in the Netherlands can do it, so i am asking your help.

Regards,

Peter Mulder

I believe that if you wait an hour with the key in the ACC position you get three more tries. Otherwise you could try disconnecting the unit for a while.

What part of the Netherlands? I get to Amsterdam, Weert and Scheidam quite often.

Good Luck!

From Groningen haha!
And indeed, you must turn the key for an hour on acc.

Would like to add to this thread. If you have your radio stuck saying off (3 failed entries), you need to put the ignition in the "acc" position and leave the radio saying "off" for 45min to 1 hour and code will be displayed, then you can enter it.

for the part of getting the code without removing the stereo, if youll remove the sidewall long carpeting piece on the passenger side of the console and climb in the floorboard upside down an pull the carpeting back from behind the stereo area in the floorboard and shove your head back there you can clearly see the back of the stereo with the serial #, my goofball friend was down in there the other day admiring all the wiring while i was in the process of taking the console apart and he noticed it, the number i called was 1-800-426-4351 and all they asked for was the serial, sometimes curiosity pays off i guess. hope it helps someone
