Default Problem with stock deck

The other day, my cd player refused to "suck up" any CDs into the player. It makes a sound like it's trying to suck up a CD when the car is first started, but then that stops and it won't take up any CDs. The screen just reads out "E."

Did my head unit bite the dust or can it be repaired? I don't really know anything about installation, but I found this head unit on ebay that says it's "plug and play."

I have 2 setups in use in a 99SL and a 95 RT/TT. That ad picture is it in the 95. I've attached a picture of it in the 99SL. They are plug and play. You loose the tape capability but gain the capacity for 7CD's.

It's not plug and play or worth the effort to go backwards.
