Got the above LCD radio for the car. Is there a plug and play harness that will work with this? Anyone ever wire one of these up before?
If need be I have a wiring schematic for the 98 3000GT VR4 and can just splice the wires together, but if there is a plug and play harness out there would just rather do that.

IF this unit has leads that need to be tapped into like a pioneer unit then you will need to splice into the proper wires.
However, as long as you do not have the infinity amplified system, a plug n play harness will work for the stereo side of the unit. If you do have the amplified system you will need a bypass for that also.
Pioneer's you splice for speed pulse, parking brake and reverse.
So looks like I needed the one harness for the infinity amp from the Metra 70-7003, but need the other harness Metra 70-7001 for the radio. The radio harness that comes with the 70-7003 only has the four wires in it.

Wrong,
You need the 4 wire 70-7003 radio harness too. If you use the other 7001 harness you will be backfeeding the speakers.

I have the four wire harness as well, plus the amp harness that came with the 70-7003. How am I supposed to wire this thing? I'm a little confused as I've never installed a head unit before. Is there a guide out there to wiring this on a 1998 VR4 with infinity amp?
Pop the trim off the radio, pull 4 radio screws and pull radio out. Save it, if it works, it’s worth about $150 on ebay for starters but your new headunit may not last very long either. I would keep it for a spare or to sell the car. Put the old radio brackets on the new hu. I would use a screw gun to remove the screws on the radio brackets make sure the screw gun tip fits the screws perfectly because they may be tight.
Connect the adaptor to the radio plug and connect the corresponding wires to the radios wires. They will be labeled; either print on the wires or tags. Connect the rca plug adaptor to the amp cable (there is only one plug that fits the adaptor) and plug the corresponding wires to the correct rca leads on the headunit. The adaptor will have a wire hanging out of it connect that to a switched power supply. Ie; red wire going to new headunit from adaptor.
Its as simple as that? Excellent I was just worried because the radio harness that I got with the metra 70-7003 only had four wires. Thanks for the info. Worked out perfectly.
