Default Pics of my new JL 13Tw5 setup

So, I wanted some bass but didn't want to lose my trunk, spare tire, storage, etc.
My buddy Tony of Soundcraft in Waterford,CT (SoundCraft Car Stereo Entrance) hooked me up with a JL Audio 13.5" sub, which has a 2.5" mounting depth. He was nice enough to use one of my old V12 amps and my 1F Stinger cap to save me some money. All work was done by Josh, the lead custom fab guy who's been working for Tony for ever and does a first class job. I highly recommend these guys to anyone looking for audio work in their 3S. Check it out and tell me what you think:

Everything fits neatly under the cover:

Sub is firing straight down, and really hits hard:

This is after playing it with the car off for some time. When it's running, it's sitting around 13.8V, and only drops a tenth when the bass hits.

Thanks for looking, and check these guys out if you're in town!

Thanks! I love it. I think I'm putting about 200 watts to it, the amp is actually a four channel, it's a tad small for the sub but it still really slams. I had two 12" Alpine Type R's in my Mustang, each getting about 300w from my big V12 sub amp, and while they may have been a little louder, they didn't sound anywhere near this good. It's so clean and smooth, I can't believe it. It's not even broken in yet, I've only got about an hour of us on it so far. I can't wait to hear it after a good 15-20 hours.

Thumbs up Re: Pics of my new JL 13Tw5 setup

clean ass install man!! i used to have a sub set up, but i got rid of it when the speed bug bit me...

i've always liked jl subs as well. i never made it past two 10 inch w1v2's on a memphis 1000 watt amp, bit it hit harder and cleaner than many systems i've heard. good sub choicE!

i might like to put my last w1v2 back in the car, but i'd need a box that didn't fly around, amp, and i dunno if i could build something nice and custom like that...

thanks for sharing

Looks to me that with full excursion the woofer will hit the floor? It looks great.

Very clean... it beats my 10" Pioneer sub in a truck box, laying sideways so it'll fit LOL!

Looking good! I'm a big fan of JL and their quality. I've got a 500/1 powering a 10w6 and I think it sounds great. I like your custom setup. There should be a pic of mine linked in my sig.

There's about an inch of clearance, I don't think it will. These pancake subs are really, really tight. We'll see when it breaks in I suppose.

Pez, that engine bay looks fantastic! Nice job on the gauges too. Didn't see any stereo... maybe I didn't dig far enough?
