My car had an aftermarket setup installed with an Alpine head unit and a kicker 4 channel amp. The speakers were also replaced with kickers all around. The wiring was done pretty badly so there was always a ton of feedback through the sound system. I decided to put the factory unit back in, use the original amp, but use the aftermarket speakers mounted in place. I took the rear panels off, took out his wiring, and adapted the factory wiring to plug in to the speakers. The door speakers he had tapped in to the wiring harness going to the door, so I found where he broke the connection, and soldered it back together.
The head unit will light up, you can select all of the different functions, etc but no sound will play. I'm getting very frustrated. Does anyone have any ideas?

Did you forget the amp under the passenger seat?

nope, the amp under the seat is connected well, all connections are snug. I didn't see that he made any cuts into that wiring harness...is there a way I can test the amp?

For starters the radio does not have outputs to the speakers. The wires are there but the radio has no output. The speakers are fed from the white plug on the amp. See if the blue wire (s) has power on it and check the black wire (s) to make sure they're still grounded and make sure the black din cable goes between the two. The din cable is the radios output to the amp.
