Cool! I'll have to download that. I haven't messed too much with the roadrunner interface, but I think it's definitely what I'm going to use.

Thumbs up Re: My carPC project: ongoing thread

I cant believe your doing this, lol, I was just ebaying all kinds of crap last night for a CarPc, lol. I have no idea where I am to start so I am glad I have this to follow. I have found 2 items on ebay that might help with my in stall, please let me know what you think.

Cappuccino TX4

and

10" Touchscreen GPS Complete Car Pc Carpc Carputer

I am also looking to use this for easy access and add ons; one of its kick ass features is that is has a removable 2.5 HD case:

AeroCool Infinite Panel

Cool read and review with detailed pics!

Looking at these too. These and the one above can be modded into the location where the active aero switch is located. Seen this in another thread. Very sick ass mod!:

Koutech IO-FPM520 Multifunction Front Panel Card Reader with USB2.0/1394a/Audio/Video Ports

Fieon HYA-500 5.25" Bay Mounted Multifunction Panel

SYBA CL-FP-JM673 Multi Function Front Panel

And I think this would be a nice and stealthy touch for quick access with DVD/CD/Games:

Sunvalley USB 2.0 External Slim 8X CD-RW/DVD Slot Loading Combo Drive

Was also thinking of adding this for fun and security. I was also thinking this would be cool for keyless entry and car start:

PRECISE BIOMETRICS 100 FINGERPRINT READER SCANNER

I would also like to do a voice recognition for complete hands free.

**** Please, no one bid on the auctions I am looking at

Question Re: My carPC project: ongoing thread

I have 2 amps, one for the 2 12" dual core subs, and the other for all the other interior audio. I control the power on of both amps using the M2-ATX power remote. The amps are then connected via regular red/white RCA cables to the external soundcard (i use a couple spliters) , i can take a closer pick for you.

I ran all the proper gauge wire based on the amps/power requirements for each device. I use a power distribution block (which you can see in the picture moutned to the side of the sub box). The dist block goes all the way to battery (Optima).

I have zero static, alternator sound. I run all my devices off the USB hubs, buried under the sub box....all my wires are buried under it (GPS, Sirius, bluetooth, cameras...etc)

The SB External-24 bit has some killer configuration options in its software that allow fine tuning of the audio (like bass booster and such). I totally recommend it.

The way I have the PC and one of the amps mounted I can fold my seats up perfectly.

I have the Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro and the Audigy 2 NX, will they work for the audio? I know they are better than the SB External Live-24 bit, but I just wanted to make sure.

I have done several and will be doing a "final" install in my car soon. It really is easy if you plan it out right and get the right parts. I love the whole carpc scenario and rarely use my HU anymore.

I have a couple threads here that you can look at.

Here is the pc/monitor install and here is the 2 seat conversion that hides the carpc under the extended hatch area.

If you have any questions or need help with anything, give me a shout here or send me a direct message.

Good luck!

I think mine is the easiest and most simple set up any where. Let me know if you have any questions.

the only issue with what I am running into with the small low power or pre-built units as POOR graphics cards. I would like to have something to where I can play a nice PC game, something like "NFS" or the like. I just lost my ass on a sale of a PC game called Painkiller: Overdose because my laptops shitty integrated card, it is an Intel. Most games utilize G-Force products; that game I sold needed a 5800 IIRC

I might just build it. I also have Transcend's 2.5-inch SATA SSD that would come in handy for an CarPc install but it is only 35gig, I have A LOT of music and movies to install

What to do!?

When I was researching for mine I remember finding a guy that had a 10.4" on his 3000gt. To make it fit, it was installed in an angle were the bottom on the screen would go all the way to the shifter bay. Imagine the part that has the cruise control switch under the screen.

BTW , DigitalFX 3.0 rocks
