Default Mitsubishi cd player/ head unit

Will cd players from later year Mitsus work on a 96 VR4. I want to replace my double din and my cd changer.

Basically if they are Infinity they are plug and play. They also can play a cd on their own.

1. The first thing to look for is the rare steering remote input plug as they are only on certain radios. The 94-96 and 97-99 steering remote is compatible with these radios.

2. The second consideration is which changer you may want to use with it. The options are Mitsu six disc in dash changer or Mitsu 10 disc rear mount changer. These radios are not compatible with the Mitsu rear mount cd 6 disc changers. NOTE: An adaptor is available to convert a Mitsu 10 disc changer system to a pioneer IP bus changer. (Peripheral MITPIL)

3. The first pic is an Infinity radio that controls the 6 Disc in-dash changer. It will also control the first 6 discs on a 10 disc changer.

4. The second pic is an Infinity radio that controls the 10 disc changer. It will control the 6 disc changer also but you will loose the info that shows the time interval on the track being listened to.

5. The later model 6 Disc version may distort more when adding bass but the jury is still out on this observation as I have yet to switch the two radios again. I didn't notice this happening until the last swap.

Edit: Both distort bass and so does everything else that adds it.

6. This setup now has an aftermarket amp on it. See the link in my sig

The used radios go for 30+. Plus shipping. When I first got these they were going for $90+

There are two Infinity radios shown in the pic. The radio on top has the steering remote input. Obviously they are'nt going to be in a Gallant, Eclipse,....

The changer goes for $150 used or $350 new. Be sure to get a cable as they are dealer only and are $$

too the top

It's been posted a few times here and there but it's tough to search for. So maybe I'll eliminate a few pm's.

Update on the factory 3k steering controls. 94-05 infinity are interchangeable as long as the correct headunit plug is used. That means if you get the plug for infinity headunit you’re using (or some rare others with the remote capability) and splice the wiring a 91-92 steering remote it will control all the mitsu headunits. The 93+ steering remotes are plug and play in all the 94-05 infinity headunits that have the capability.

Love the looks of the second headunit, what year / make / model was that out of?
Are you going to use that one, if not, do you want to sell it?

Thanks

The pics were in 05 and the 00-01 Diamante/Montero radio's long gone. I am still using the 03 VRX setup though. (first pic)
