Default help - newb install 2 amps

hey all. anyone here familiar w/ Elemental Design amplifier setup?
i have (2) Nine.2 amps, and I'm a newb. My head unit (Eclipse 7301) has 3 rca outputs, so I plugged the "fader" one for the subwoofer amp, and the "fronts" rca jacks to the 2nd amp. 2nd amp has 2 speakers cables, 1 to each front speaker (infinity reference 6.5" components)
well, all is hooked up and ready to go, but when i play music, the bass is good but the fronts sound only about as loud as when they had no amps .
when they were connected directly to the head unit (20w each channel) , it sounds about the same
isn't it supposed to be a lot louder?
i think the components handle ~100 watt and UP to 400watt
argh it's driving me crazy. maybe i setup the 'remote' lead wrong? I have the remote lead going straight into the REM jack of AMP #2, and then daisy chained another cable from that amp #2 rem jack to amp #1 rem jack
is that correct?
