Default do I need new stereo trim?

I have a 92 3000gt with a stock double din radio. I just tried to install a new alpine hu, but the stereo trim does not fit. Do I need to get the one that has 2 opening?

thanks Eddie

Default Re: do I need new stereo trim?

If you use the standard isomount holes on the sides of the radio you will not be able to use the trim ring that came with the new radio and get the factory trim to fit back on. You basically have two choices now:
1) Use the normal holes and just do something to cover the gap between the trim ring-less aftermarket radio and the factory trim; like wrap the edge of the radio with fuzzy sided velcro.
2) Use some different holes that space the radio back some so that you can use the trim ring that comes with the radio and still get the factory trim to fit. To do this you need to use the provided hardware that came with the new radio, i.e. shallow screws, and lots of trial and error. You might also have to fab something to help support the radio if you can only get one hole per side to line up.

Option 2 takes more time but looks better in the end.
