I want to do this and am going to start gathering parts. The only things concerning me is power(DC-DC PSUs seem to be low ratings), vibration from a large system(altho not installed its in the plans), and Im thinking of going water cooled over air cooled. I just don't have the details planned out yet.

Yeah, but still the road bumps arent what I'm worried about. I thought about dynamat, but I think it may work against me, as bass will penetrate in through any venting, and then bounce harder inside the box because of the dynamat. I also thought about the laptop HD, and hoped someone had a better (cheaper) idea. I think I may try one of my spare HD's and see how much I can punish it before it dies. As far as the springs, Master, where did you get them?

I wouldnt go water cooled, I can see the reservoir spilling going around a turn or hitting a bump too hard.

*shutters at water cooling*

I'm not totally convinced they got all the kinks out of it yet. Plus if water gets out from leaking it wont just kill your computer.

The springs can be gotten at you local hardware store for about 80 cents.

I understand what your talking about. You will not be able to eliminate all vibrations. As a matter of fact, I wonder if the bass vibrations would shake the cylinders inside of the hard drive causing a premature death. That would suck...Stopping a frequency and a bump in the road are 2 totally different things...

What if you create a plexi shield over the entire case and breathe the computer out another way. You could cut a hole out of the plastic panel of the car and vent the air through this. If you remove the jack cover there is plenty of venting room there. Maybe using another cover would be better for this. just a thought...

The movement of the case can easily knock cards out of place. This is common with desktop computers too. This is why they screw the card down to the case.

Unless your are playing video games on the computer for hours then I dont see the computer heating up enough to even bother with water cooling it. The whole point of water cooling is for those *extreme* conditions. Sitting in the back of your car playing music is hardly an extreme condition. If you are just doing this because it looks cool then I say go for it because I have always wanted to do this to. But if you are just doing this for heating purposes I would say your wasting your money. Another fan/bigger fan can help alot.

The sound card popped out only when I was messing with it at the meet Jess was taking pictures at. The one that gives me issues is the video card. It doesn't go in tight at all. The ONLY way I see getting them to stay is hot gluing the bitches. Just the way the case is it doesnt work to do anything else.
