I'm planning on doing both of my cars doing the trunk/doors/hatch and will be buying in bulk.
I was curious as to what people think is the best bang for the buck. I know dynamat is good, but probably not going to be the best overall as it is more $$. Also, does anyone know how many sq feet would be enough? 75 per car?

Just finish my entire car, this includes the doors, headliner, floor, trunk, all sides of interior and trunk lid. I used 87sq feet of dynamat.

Raamat is one of the most cost-effective solutions, about $2 per sq-ft IIRC. I just used a 60 sq-ft roll on my car.

Raammat, available at raamaudio.com i believe. Best quality for the price deadener on the market probably. Look for my thread on sound deadening my car. I used 125sq foot.
Good luck

Isnt this a CAR SITE?

I did my friends Z06 with stuff from here (apparently Corvette Forums all go to this guy): Elemental Designs
Came out great. From the inside sounds quiet as stock. Dont forget the doors and the trunk lid. That was the thinner stuff. Probably would have been enough, but the OCD kicked in, and we threw another layer of the thick stuff for the low frequency too. All seams sealed with aluminum tape. Carpets fit back in fine.

Yeah, but its the asphalt mat stuff and not nearly as good as the other products(its better than nothing) but IMO if your going to spend the time & effort DO IT RIGHT. and not nearly as good as the other products.
The test that was posted had LOTS of good info. As far as the ED stuff, I'm sure its fine. But the RAAMaudio stuff is better and costs less. Last edited by 91Stealthrt2 : 08-13-2008 at 07:28 PM. |

Looks nice. Funny about the OCD since I know what you're talkin about. After 4 layers I was like eh its already apart another probably won't hurt. Times that by every panel that got done.
This is one project that needs to be done, but really suck to do, IMO Quote:

Not sure if it's available any more or under some other name, but I've got Rockfor Fosgate Noise Killer lining the entire interior of my car. I think it was rebranded under anther name several years ago. But this stuff works great! It's a liquid spray-apply stuff that really lets you get into all the "nooks n cranies" that you can't get to with dynamat. And it's lighter weight than dynamat. But again, not sure if it's available any more

I would use hushmat, it is alot more effective then dynamat. It has more of a deadening and is easier to apply. They have different materals from standard deadening to a foam that will help keep heat out also. Hushmat Home
