if weight is a concern I think looking for a sub with a Neodymium motor and either aluminium or a plastic injection molded basket is going to be the key. along with using a fiberglass or even carbon fiber box

One 10" Diamond Audio sub hands down with Smok'ins sub box works perfect. Sub is tucked away in the corner and you still have full access to your hatch area. Mines powered by a RockfordFosgate P6001 amp and this sub hits damn hard and clean. I also don't play any boom boom music.
