Default Audio System... and Active Aero

Well, I posted this in the general section and got only one answer which didn't tell me much. This relates to the audio system, so I guess this is as good a place for this post as any.

I just bought a '95 VR4, and have a seemingly expanding list of issues that aren't actually that big an issue... till you roll them all into one.

Anyways, my question in this topic is about the Active Aero. It works... kinda. The front portion does not work... probably due to some damaging done by the previous owner. If I put the key in and go to the ACC position, it allows me to manually flip the wing up until my speakers turn on. The wing will flip up and down while the HU is on and not actually playing music, but the moment the speakers start to play, the wing goes completely inactive. I am thinking the battery might be the problem. I have also learned through dealing with the powered seat, that the previous owner can't do wiring to save their life. So it could be a wire issue, but as it works before the speakers turn on, I assumed it was something to do with not enough power getting to everything.

Any ideas? Has anyone else had a similar problem?

for the wing not to work at all right when the speakers have music going threw them is really strange.

if the front airdamn isnt moving then the wing will stop moving. and you will throw a code saying the active aero is messed up.

if you have the head unit off the whole time and drive around does the wing still work or does it shut off like before. like when music starts playing out of the speakers.

my active aero started acting up. but it was because the front electric motor was worn and couldnt pick up the front airdamn after it went down. so it would throw a code for the active aero and the wing would disengage.

so i disconnected the front swing arm that was connected to the front electric motor so it doesnt push or pull the front airdamn anymore but i can use the back wing without any problems. i mostly just use the wing to wave at the losers as i pass them. lol

but to answer your question about the battery. i really dont think thats the problem. with the car on. your alt is putting out the power. so its not lacking power. i would say its something with the wiring most likely.

I know the air dam doesn't work. It looks like it is pretty scuffed from something, but dunno what. Maybe I should attempt to fix/replace it. The wing doesn't work at all when it is in the on position, so maybe it does have to do with the fact that the dam won't move. >.< I guess I will disconnect the dam from the control arm and see what happens. Thanks for the answer.

Could also be another overloaded iod circuit. AA control gets power from there.

Well here is an update. I was messing around with it today, and found that it doesn't matter what position the key is in, as long as it is in the ignition the AA works for approx. 15 - 20 seconds then stops. That just happens to go with how long it takes my radio to turn on and load up completely, so it doesn't have anything to do with the radio at all.

During that 15 seconds, the wing works fine... so I dunno what the prob is.

well with mine. when the front didnt work. but the back did. it would only work about 15 sec then stop and throw a code saying it was messed up. more then likely it takes that long for it to do the check and see that the front is messed up and shuts it off.

disconnect the front control arm that spins that pushes and pulls the airdamn. so the electric motor can still spin freely and it thinks the airdamn is down when it really isnt. that should fix your problem. you can still use the back wing until the front is fixed or removed.

i'm almost 100% sure that since the front isnt moving at all. thats what shuts it all down.

What is the easiest way to get to the control arm or w/e connection it is that I need to disconnect?

If the computer doesn't sense the front moving it will turn on the Aero error light and shut the system down, this will happen after the first time the wing will go up and then back down. If you want it to work again you need to buy the AA sim from 3SX. Disconnecting the front AA won't work.

The Aero light doesn't come on. My problem almost seems like the same thing that happened with sleeper3000's car. If that is the case, then it should be fixed by today. xD
