Thanks for all the help dave. After listening again for a few days.Iv'e decided to go for the boston acoustics. Looking at the mounting depth on these do you see me doing a huge amount of modification other than trimming the spider grill? I would love to also dynamat the doors but I am a little clueless on where to dynamat and if i even could. Would I have used all my space fitting the over sized speaker that i cant dynamat where i need too...sorry for the newbie questions. first time putting in speakers that require modification and fabrication of any type. Thanks everyone

They will fit. I used cascade v block on and in the doors with a Deflex PowerPad on each side. I bought a lot and did the car with v block first and VMAX over it. You need a roller, alchohol, and a heat gun.

Dave, have you ever measured the maximum allowable depth in the doors? I'm purchasing some 6.5's that have a fairly large VC's. Thanks.

DUH, I should have thought of it just to set this straight. All I have to offer is the 2.7" deep speakers fit with room to spare.

Thanks for the info, I'll look for something under a 3" mounting depth to be on the safe side. The 6.5's I originally had planned were 3.5". I'm surprised you were able to find a 7" drivers with such a shallow depth!

I've thought of it, but I've had a hard time finding some decent 7's for a decent price that don't have a 3.5" plus mounting depth.

I found these here:

https://www.solen.ca/pdf/peerless/830945.pdf

They would rock in the doors with some decent power and a 1.5K 2nd order.

If I only had that kinda money for speakers, damn home ownership plan

Here's what I'm ordering:

https://www.solen.ca/pdf/silver/w14rc2504.pdf

That graph looks a little to good to be true but after a little modeling I noticed it has a flat enough response to use a 1st order to keep costs down. We'll see how they do in the doors.
