Question Alpine headunit

I've been browsing on the net for the best deals. I've been looking at vast amounts of reviews for the products i was considering on purchasing. I've been looking and searching for couple weeks now. So yes, you can say i've been doing my research. A bit too much i would say. But is it really all that hard to understand why i would be doing this. Like anyone else i want the best for the best price and will not make a decision until i think i have that haha. It's finally come to that time to actually make the purchase.

I found the Alpine IDA- X305 is the unit for me. It fits all my needs and wants out of a head unit. My question to you guys is if spending $260.00 bucks on just a head unit, a bit too crazy? This will be the start of my little audio project for my 3000 gt. And i thought i would start with the Head unit first. Just wanted to see what you guys thought before i make the purchase.

wow tell me if spending 2500 on a system is too crazy then if you are worried about 260.

nothing is a waste of money if you can afford it and it is a wise purchase.

It sounds like your asking us to make your financial decisions for you. Is it expensive for an HU? no, it's probably around the average. I paid 425 for my last HU.

You found a head unit that does everything you want - Priceless.

As for spending $260.00 for a head unit in the grand scheme of things, as O-Rod said, that's about average, if not chump change for a head unit. Spending $1700 on a double-din touch-screen DVD player that doesn't even play BlueRay formats, THAT is crazy!!!!

They make one that DOES play BluRay??

Anyhow, average price for a good non-video H/U nowadays averages around $250 for something quality. Like everyone has said, if it fits your needs and does everything you want, then by all means scoop it up. Tho if ur worried about price, maybe look for the same H/U model on EBay and get it at a deal??

They don't, and that's the problem. I know markup on car audio is insane, but they're still charging premium price for an ordinary DVD player in the car, when you can go out and buy 120-volt home BluRay player, 12-volt inverter, cables and make it work in your car for less than a regular double-din DVD player. Car audio is on a two year lag, and charging insane prices for old media players, they're on crack!
