Default Video Tutorial: Adjusting the Clutch Pedal on a Non-Turbo 3S - HD 720p Video

Hello again everyone,

Here's a video tutorial on how to adjust the clutch pedal on a non-turbo 3S car. The process is essentially the same on the RT/TT and VR4, just the pedal clearance at the top of the pedal is different (and documented in the video anyway).

The video is a 720p HD video, filmed with a Kodak Zi6 and edited in iMovie '09 on a MacBook. Some of the aspects of the video are a bit blurry, which is a consequence of having the camera so close to the work area. The more technical reason is that the camera has only two set "depths of field" (areas that it can focus on), and the work environment under the floorboard is just between them. I thiink the video still illustrated exactly what is needed to get yout clutch pedal adjusted properly and what tools/steps are needed.

Run time is about 6 1/2 minutes, and actual work time was aroud 1/2 hour.

The reason I looked into this at all was that my clutch was disengaging the instant I started to let it up off of the floorboard, which is not too good. It felt like it interefered with proper shift operation, and can cause premature wear on the transmission and its components. Along with getting the clutch travel corrected, it actually is a bit easier to push the pedal in now, which was likely the fault of the slave cylinder not being able to do its job with the clutch range out of adjustment.

Oh yeah, I blink a lot when I'm being filmed. Must be something to do with being on camera. Good thing I don't do that in person - would drive my family/friends crazy just to have to talk to me face to face. The point of the video is to share information, not get me lots of face time, so I'm sure it'll be OK.

Enjoy the video, and drop me a line if you have any questions - I'll be glad to try to help.

- Blaine

I'll have to check and see if I need to do this on my SL.
