oh for sure man, i dont disagree with numbers at all....... i just went with what i felt as a gainer in my N/A gt... to me it felt a whole lot torquier and it seemed to rev faster due to less rotational mass. i always thought of the idea of underdriving as being useless, not the less rotating mass..... idk. its a subject that will always be up for debate, as for me, ill always go with one. UNLESS i drive a bmw!

lol! yeah for NA's trying to squeeze every ounce out it is an option... You're right, it will never be a an issue everyone sees eye to eye on, I just wanted to make sure the considerations are taken into account before purchase

NA(NATURALLY ASPIRATED/NON TURBO) MODS:

*heads (expensive).
heads are available on www.dynamicracing.com (expensive)
and on http://www.3kgtmotorsports.com (expensive.)
there are talks of a group buy for stage 3 heads for $950 on 3si from mightymouse: http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread.php?t=222629

*There are stages of upgrades for naturally aspirated cars on one of my pages on cardomain: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/491719/4

OPTIONS for a non turbo (ttfwd3000gt taught me a lot):
*remove resonator bottle underneath the intake pipe ($free). Instructions: http://www.team3s.com/FAQresonator.htm
*Higher compression pistons (expensive). stock is10:1. get 11:1 or 12:1 or higher.
*adjustable cam gears from 3sxperformance.com $500
*cams (expensive) www.dynamicracing.com or www.3kgtmotorsports.com or *http://www.3sxperformance.com/engine-upper.asp
*new spark plugs and wires.
*lightened aluminum crank pulley from www.3sxperformance.com (only $140) (its lightened, but isnt smaller in size so u wont lose power to your air conditioner or stereo).
*downpipe (there might be a groupbuy right now on 3si. my friend got one for 260 shipped).
*testpipe from www.maximalperformance.com (u feel the pull after this thing and its inexpensive like 40 bux).
*lightened wheels (anything but chrome in my opinion.)
*7 or 8 inch filter with a 4.5 inch opening (about $45). And a 4.5 inch intake adapter(ebay has em for like $13 with shipping, great quality to) (links for intake: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/491719/4 If its too difficult to find a 4.5 inch intake adapter just get a 4 inch one from ebay from the seller "racedreamz" or "zerotek" and get a 7 or 8 inch filter with a 4 inch opening to go with it. AND YES A 7 OR 8 INCH FILTER WILL FIT. TIP:instead of paying like 25 for a intake bracket to hold the filter from dangling i just wrapped a piece of wire around the intake hose right behind the filter and ran it through a hole in the bracket near the filter behind the plug things behind the headlight.

TRACTION:
*speedfreakracing.net lsd insert($230)very strong. available on www.speedfreakracing.net. (more TT converted people need this damn thing.)

SAFETY:
*drilled and slotted rotors on ebay for $160 shipped
*steel braided brake lines $160 shipped about

OTHER STUFF:
*clutch (few hundred $)
*lighteneed flywheel (makes your revs increse faster). (expensive)
*ground wires (cheap on ebay) or from www.speedfreakracing.net
*Fuel line upgrade from 3kgtmotorsports.com $290(i dont think its worth it) http://www.3kgtmotorsports.com/index.php?page=Fuel
*headers $390 from 3kgtmotorsports.com(expensive and i dont know if its worth the money)
* Air fuel guage
*SAFC 1 or 2
*lighter wheels will help a lot.(anything but chrome in my opinion.)
*and a short throw shifter. I know 3kgtmotorsports.com has em.
*device that makes u sound turbocharged $37 shipped on ebay. goes into your exhaust tip or muffler tip. seller: "instant horsepower!"
*TT conversion is better than a custom single turbo kit in my opinion and from doing some forum reading.

NOS:
* get the wet shot.
*get 360cc twin turbo injectors.
*get a better fuel pump. > Walbro 255 is 90 bux on ebay. Or get the TT fuel pump. Or denso.
*air fuel controller (safc)
*air fuel guage. and u'll be set.

my site on cardomain: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/491719 Page 1 has body kits. Bottom of page 2 has links to intake stuff and turbos and tt conversion. Page 5 has links to everything.

Hi there

Just popped over from GTO UK to have a gander at this thread, some great ideas for the N/A here.

Two questions:

Has anyone supercharged or turbo'ed their GTO/SL/Stealth ?

What kind of delivery time can i expect to the UK from 3sx and others on here.

Regards

Sky.

hop over to the FWD forum (2 up from this one). We have a sub-forum dedicated to the addition of turbos/blowers to the NA's. It's quite fun to do, and well worth it. There's about 50 of us tooling around with base-model/mid-level models that now have this completed and we can get just about anyone through the process.

Thanks to all for the wealth of info (except for the flame war) in this thread. I'm a newbie and this is exactly what I needed to get started.

Also, 3KGTParts, I went to your HP ( http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/491719) but it appears to be empty? Intereseted in the parts links that you spoke of.

Thanks!
EDIT: found the links, sorry.

Default Re: N/A UPGRADE BIBLE.

hey, just wanted to give my input.
I have the following :
Intake, custom exaust, testpipe, underdrive pulley, solid motor mounts, fidanza flywheel, LSD

pre LSD/Solid motor mounts/flywheel i put down 195 to the wheels.
with everything i ran a pretty bad 1/4 mile time (probably mostly because i am new to drag racing) 2.4 60', 92 mph trap speed, but a 15.5 1/4 mile (all three numbers are best times from different runs**)

my car has been 15.17 @ 91 mph before i bought it (pre LSD/Solid motor mounts/flywheel) so i know i *should* be about 14.9-15.1 once i learn to launch a a little better and once i tune it a little.

didnt really get a chance to read through all 25 pages, but i thought i would throw my numbers in there for you to compare them to. (hope it is still on topic seeing how 3si likes to get off topic at about the 3rd page)

I have a question, I heard you could replace your ECM with a VR4 ECM and increase your power. How is this done? Is it plug and play, or do you have to re-wire the harness? Taking into consideration that the ECMs are from the same year 3000GT. Anyone done this?
