Hey you guys know about this? www.3kgtmotorsports.com they sell the header and downpipe combo for our car at a reasonable price for a 3k. They also have the cams for about $500. Anybody know what launching will be like with a twin turbo conversion and a limited slip? Wheel spin till 2nd gear?

You find 1200 dollars reasonable I think they are a rip off. Launching with a TT conversion sucks. I know Ty gets like 2.8 60 ft times, but more then makes up for it when he locks up

Default Headers

The 3kgt headers are NOT worth $1200...Trust me

I admit that's a ridiculous price for headers, but everything has a ridiculous price for the 3k. Know any place to get headers for cheaper?

Rasheed at 3KGTmotorsports has spent alot of time on his products, and his headers look very nice.

pony up that 1200 and get a set.

Oh and there is a guy in north dallas that built his own headers and claimed to have 320 HP on his N/A without nos. I will e-mail him and maybe he can rspond to this thread from yoghurt (dutch spelling!)

okay I didn't read all 12 pages of this, but had a few comments on the list:
First off very good, but you missed out on some important power adders:

1. Higher compression/bored out pistons... good for at least 10hp to the wheels

2. Camshafts - this one is HUGE and considering you have NOS and TT and port-and-polish on the list, this can't be forgotten. Good for at least 40hp to the ground.

3. Bigger valves - no defenite number here, works with other parts for additive results. If you have an air intake, cams and gears, this is another 10hp to the wheel rough estimate.

4. I was going to say higher tension valve springs but realized I shold sum all these up into "Heads" upgraded heads all together can get you AT LEAST 50-60hp to the wheels

5. Those "fags" who say underdrive pulleys are dangerous are every engine builder and automotive engineer. Mach V motorsports even had an employee who's crankshaft broke in half because of one. Even NASCARs use dampners, HEAVY ones at that

The only people defending underdrive pulleys are people selling them, and people who are uninformed. Sorry, no one with credentials will agree with you (again, unless they are associated with the companies that sell them)

OMG....Dayum....I spent an hour just reading through the total 23 pages of this thread. Yogurt's list was helpful as it points out some of the basic mods to improve the NA. The rest of the thread was annoying but funny to read.

Anyway, I read that UDP causes the lights to dim. Why is that? Is that bad? What do you guys think of the Unorthodox underdrive pulley? The previous owner had it installed when I bought the car from him. If it just dims the lights but doens't cause any damage to anything then I'm cool with it.

To Yogurt -- You mentioned that you sell or make custom exhausts for $425....Do you happen to have some pictures of it and how much HP gain it offers to the wheels?

Thanks,
Ed

Underdrive pulleys do just what the name says, they underdrive the alternator. the alternator doesn't turn as fast, so it doesn't generate as much power for a small hp gain. This is why your lights dim, they aren't getting as much power... Your lights should only dim at idle, however.

The problem is that they shorten the life of your engine, despite what uneducated enthusiasts say... if you don't believe me, read this:
