I finally did this mod this afternoon, it was not as hard as I had thought it would be and I like the softer pedal and clutter removal from the engine bay. The whole thing took me about an hour as I was taking it slow, not rushing anything. Andrews instructions were great, right to the point. I used washers and I would have to agree with everyone that washers are a must!
Heres some pics: All the junk removed from the car: Engine bay minus the cruise control box / cables: New throttle cable: Shot of the engine bay after everything was completed: Next up is Jakes FIAV delete... =P Thanks again for posting this Andrew! old thread, but was very helpful in deleting my cruise control today. I'm trying to get rid of as many useless things as possible under the engine bay and this was a big one
![]() something i did a little different was this: The cable you eventually wind up using has a cylinder shaped piece of metal on the end. The original cable that was used in the car has a sphereical shaped piece of metal on the end. I took a file and ground down the cylinder into a sphere (like the original). Not only did it fit in the blue clip, but those nuts slid right off and on and made the install process a hell of a lot eaiser. Especially when I was lying on my back hooking it back up to the accelerator pedal ![]()

Did mine today and the pedal deff. feels more firm/solid. However havnt drove it cuz im tearing down for a front clip.
I dunno what you mean be careful/precision cut with the yellow clip(for me). I ran over that thing with a jeep and all that happened was it shot out like a bullet!! That thing is a mother fucker! no wonder no glue is needed! I did mine a little different to keep the stock look... i just cut/drilled/filed the bracket that was originally bolted to the frame. It only took 5 mins and was better/faster than making a braket for it. my 2 cents Zak |

Did this mod, unfortunately I was trying to mess with the washers and the other end of my cable touched the postive of the battery causing a little fire in my Engine bay
so I had to get another cable, anyways, I found that instead of struggling with the washer inside the car and trying to hold everything in place at the same time, I made a small piece out of steel that I attached the cable to , then the hole in the fire wall I dremelled it out a little bigger, so I could assemble everything first on to the template, that way it was easier for me to attach everything without breaking my back excellent mod

I just did this.
for Step 4: Step 4. Remove the 2 bolts holding the throttle cable to the firewall. Go inside the car, and remove the 2 bolts holding the accelerator pedal to the firewall. Using a set of pliers and screwdriver, remove the blue clip (edit- it has come to my attention that this clip may not be blue on some cars, it has also been reported as yellow)that secures the cable to the accelerator pedal, without breaking the clip. Put the gas pedal assembly , and the cable you just removed aside for now. I found it easier just to leave the gas pedal in. The back of the clip is seperated and pushes together to get into the gas pedal. I pushed the back together and through the gas pedal to take it off. The clip is pretty thick at the base and I wasn't doing much but cutting myself with the exacto knife, so I used a thin blade hacksaw for most of the way, then exacto for the last bit. I found using c-clip ring pliers made it super easy to take the clip on and off the cable.
