I have to admit 3000SL95 has really been a big help to a lot of people on this board .... me included. I am thinking about possibly undertaking this same project ... where did you get the diagrams from 3000sl95??

Venom, send me a PM with a price for all of the parts needed.

Thanks,
Russ

I am not sure on the prices I would have to get down to the junk yard. Or even get a parts list and give them a call.

Man, that looks really good. I too would like to congratulate you on a job well done, and a "how to" for other 3Si members.

Yeah I have a couple questions for you, your PM box was full. I have half the parts I need so far and plan on getting the rest in the next day or two. Did you have to take out your headliner to route the wires to the interior temp sensor? Also when you installed the two digital wiring harnesses, did you tape them up with your main wiring harness or did you let the wires stay loose? Yeah installing this is one thing, figuring it out is completely different.

to route the wires to the interior temp sensor i basically pulled off the passenger side a pillar and ran the wires from the right side of the dash, up through that and into the headliner, my car has the sunroof so i kinda pulled the liner down near the sunroof and was able to reach the wires from there, if you don't have a sunroof you may have to pull most of the headliner, its easier to get the wires if you use a clothes hanger or some kind of fishtape. as far as the harnesses, i kinda taped it into my stock harness, i connected all the neccessary wires to the stock ones, then basically wrapped the bundle in eletric tape and a few zip ties, its not as clean as stock but its all completely hidden. whta i woudl reccomend, is work on the passenger side behind the glovebox, almost all the needed wires ar available there. this way you don't have excess wires in the way on the drivers side. make sure you havce everything that i listed, because missing any of those pieces will throw off the whole install.
good luck with the conversion, it so much fun saying that you've done a $5000 air conditioning conversion and that your one of very few to do it.

Thumbs up

Wow, I always toyed with the idea of doing this to my base but never had the balls to follow through. Congrats, awesome work.

Now that you've dissasembled the display, is it possible to change the illumination color of the buttons (if I'm not mistaken, there should only be 2 bulbs)? Would you recommend LED's or just colored bulbs?

Did you use a regular piece of plexiglass to replace the purple lens? Anything I should take into consideration while doing this?

Thanks.
