Well after messing for 3 days with my gauge cluster and unable to get even light distribution I started lookning around. First wanted to get EL sheet and put it behind stock gauges but I kinda didn't liked how crowded the stock cluster is. The KPH gauge, the "Premium only", the x1000r/min, et cetera.
So I found Speedhut.com and ordered "Blood red" on black background. A week later and had the overlays here. First thing I noticed is how much bigger the hole for the needle stopper is. As usual I haven't read the manual (pretty crappy one at that) and started installing everything. It's only then when I started installing fuel gauge and the place for orange light was missing I took a look at the manual. It said to put the overlays directly onto stock gauges where I put mine instead of stock. Oh well, I just put the stock fuel gauge under overlay becuase I used plenty of double-sided tape on RPM and MPH overlays. Now this is where I am now. The main downside of overlays is that from every hole there's blue light coming. All my gauge setup is orange-red and it's kinda out of place. I fixed the tiny hole on fuel gauge for warning light with a Sharpie but I don't know what to do with odometer cutouts. Anyway, the cliff notes: Good product but not worth $100 "Upgraded" inverter is unecessary. All it does is allows to switch between green and blue backlight (irrelevant with my red gauges) and adjust brightness. Speaking of brightness - it's not enough. They are noticeably dimmer than Prosports. ![]() The redline is invisible in dark. ![]() ![]() Yes, those are damn screws acting as needle stoppers. They look kinda cool though ![]() I know, I need to work on my needles but I'm done for tonight.

Dont forget about my thread on led needlesLed needles 101 !!!!!!
Im not sure how it will look on yours since your holes on the overlays are bigger. I done my friends needles red before and he had sent me a night pic with his crappy cell phone. They look orange but in person there red. His needles are sanded down clear. Yours may look better if you stay with the stock(non sanded) needles.(leds were 100 deg viewing angle and 500mcd) ![]()

I bought a set of these for my '92, which I'm now parting out. It's sitting, uninstalled in my bedroom, wondering if I should put it in my '99. I obviously will not have the blue LED problems, but, I'm worried about the dimness. Oh well. I'll add my results to the thread when I eventually install them.

I spoke to someone at Speedhut and asked them if they could make a tach and speedometer face but with 10,000 rpm and 200 mph and have it light up all the numbers including the newly added 10,000 rpm and 200 mph. They said they could. He said to custom order as usual with the needed colors and backgrounds but to make sure at the order page to enter exactly what more you wanted done to it. An example would be black dial, White European lettering and red backlight at night having 10,000rpm and 200mph on it. If true that would be something I believe some of us would want to buy.
Speedhut is located in: 765 west 425 north lindon Utah 84042 (801) 796-1460 (10am - 5pm MST) (801) 796-1468 FAX Maybe someone with some more knowledge can call them and figure out if this really can be done. I am going to fax them what I want before committing myself to order and try to get a definite yes or no in writing. Let me know what else can be done to make this happen if possible. Thanks, Ray |

It would be great if you could get the info in person to see if they really can do all those things with new gauge faces. Please let us know if possible. Thanks |
