Propain injection might be one of them though. I don't need/and won't be ripping around always at 20psi....but I want to know the possibility is there.
Also...my buddy has a 96 TA with about 300RWHP, nothing major...but I just like the instant power feeling when you tap the throttle. I have heard a DR500 car is like driving a high HP NA car. I want the feeling that when I put my foot down...it car is going to go.
I don't mind lag....but the less the better in my book.
Hmmmm DR500's....are starting to get the upper hand.

I've been in a fairly stout T/A (00' LS1) and I have to say that his car FEELS VERY fast. Unfortunately, he can't get it out of the mid/high 12s. My car does come on very hard when the boost hits, but you simply can't replace the feeling of basically instant torque. I'd still race him any day of the week and hand him his ass, so I'm not too worried about what "feels" faster. I love the feeling my car has though (in 3rd gear at 60mph the car feels absolutely insane....almost instant boost).

Thanks for the support guys.

Alan: thanks for the move, sorry for the wrong forum placement.

Any more questions or comments are welcomed...thanks guys.

Yeah I know I can't have my car have the same "feel" fast as you described. But what I was getting at is basically...when you drop the hammer at say 3000RPM with DR500's since they are such a small upgrade as far as lag is concerned....I am not waiting 1000-1500 RPM later for the boost to kick in.
Which is what I want. I know there are countless other more potent turbo's...but I think for the street use....my car is going to get built up very very similar to yours. Might even have to use your car as a template for mine. LOL. I know I am not making any ground breaking discoveries....but I will be building something that is once again, proven over and over.
Thanks for all the info, and best of luck on the 8th with your increased boost. I am quite positive you will be dipping into the 11's.

MDB

PS.
How easy/hard is it to break all four loose? Cause while I don't want major traction issues, I can't think of something much cooler than lining up on the street with a RWD car...him do a burn out...then you proceed to light up all 4 LOL.

Yeah I know what you mean. I will have my car paid off finally in April. Thats partially I haven't done much more than BPU right now. My car hasn't changed in the last 3 years. Partially cause everything I am going to jump into gets expensive...and I didn't want to run the risk of harming my engine....then have to have her sit there.....paying for the payments, and trying to save money for repairs. At least after April...I break something...I will have money to pay for it LOL.

Oh you'll be spinning your tires, but while he's just making smoke, you're actually going somewhere. You probably won't be getting on it too hard going thru a turn either. At this level, the car starts to behave more like a RWD car.

b.t.w. Nice write up Matt!

Sweet....thats exactly what I am looking for. Something that will satisfy my need for speed. I guess, DR500's are the way to go. And hey...if I ever need to...I can always upgrade later.
Thanks guys for all the input.

Congrats on your results with turning up the boost. You're making me want to play around with race gas again.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but you (MadDog) said you're interested in 13Ts. You may still want to consider 13Ts if you're on a budget. Even at this altitude my car builds boost VERY fast. Breaking the tires loose with 13Ts is pretty easy too. Hopefully by the time you're ready to get some new turbos, others will have some track results to show what these turbos can really do. 18Ts are also a good option, but I believe they also start to shine only at higher boost, so for street turbos, you still may want 13Ts if you decide to go that route. If you have the cash, DR turbos are great. I wanted either DR500 or DR650 turbos when I was trying to decide on turbos, but I thought I'd try the 13Ts since they were a lot cheaper. In fact, I may be selling my setup when I've pushed these turbos as far as they can go so I can buy myself a set of DR1000's.

VR4Maniac:
Good luck at the track on the 8th!

While I am not totally closing the door on the 13T's....like I said...I would like a little bit more info and see what people who have used them get for results.
I mean...since I won't be going to the track very often, like stated above, maybe 1-2 a year....I don't care if the 13T's will take off .5s in the 1/4 more than the DR500's will. I just want a very reliable street turbo. Cause if I cared solely on 1/4 mile times...I would go with a larger turbo. But it is food for thought, and I will be closely watching all "T" turbo threads.

Thanks once again guys,

MDB
