As I purchased the product I did some research to find that it was going to have some installation issues. None the less I still set forth on doing it. First thing I noticed when comparing the stock one with the obx was the obx had a o2 sensor hole for it which was not necessary . Already this was going to be an issue.
How should I prep myself before installation? Wd-40 make it your friend sleep with it. Pre soak it every day as it comes in the mail. These bolts are nearly welded to the car by now. If you have one use a impact wrench they work great and are quite easier then man handling a wrench. Watch out for flying rust if your going to use this one. And always be safe while jacking the car up. What to cap it with? It is EXACTLY a quarter size long. So if you get it I recommend you weld a piece of metal exactly in that size. The hole itself is a wee bit smaller then a dime. (someone could tell you the right bolt to cap this hole) Does it bolt right up no issues? Yes everything was easy except towards the rear part when you get to the cat delete. THe flange is bigger then the stock I guess you want to call it rest of the exhaust. It is wider and the stock bolts will no longer fit. No biggie just need a screw a washer and a bolt for both sides of the flange. What are its benefits during the install? I didn't know it deleted the middle cat I was under the influence that it would just delete the ones to the manifolds. Big surprise there. Other then that its shiny and is very nonrestrictive due to straight pipe. How does this bad boy perform? It's great, I love it. It's a cross between a 4 cylinder sound and a v8 really. It's more of a roooo roooo instead of a ree reee. I love the back pressure too. At idle it sounds quite. The turbos become spool happy and hearing them slow down is music to my ears. It's a blast to drive now. What kind of person would you recommend this to? If your a handyman, can weld a quarter size hole up, and of course cheap. I bought this for 120 shipped and I think I might of even over payed. I just cant see spending 400 bucks for a pipe that does the same thing. Conclusion if you could do it again what would you have done? All in all I still would recommend the stillen or 3sx dp. Just because installation is less a bitch then these. If your the kind of person that doesn't like to make it fit then save your money. If you dont mind a little labor into it then hell yea go for a obx on ebay there 120-150. I hope this gives you a better understanding on purchasing a dp. Like I said I love the sound and have never heard the stillin or the 3sx but I dont care to. And I hope someone can help tell me which bolt is the exact same size as the dime diameter of the o2 housing.

Notice the size difference, and the bolts are different. But when I shake her it is tighter then a ticks ass. Those pipes are held together strong with for no exhaust leaks. ![]() |

I'm thinking of buying the obx pipe to replace my atr downpipe and random tech high flow cat. Maybe you could help answer a few questions for me..
Where it bolts up to the catback exhaust, it's a 3" flange right? Is this like the one you bought?? I've had experience with OBX before. I bought a header for my old del sol. It was very affordable, and fit like a glove.

Alright been gone for a while. Little update im getting a screw now since my car is still up in the air just to fit the o2 sensor hole. To the gentleman who posted the link. That one looks better then what I have given the fact that it has no o2 sensor you shouldn't run into any problems during the install (other then the welded 20 year old bolts). That seems like quite a steal if you ask me. I will be posting up videos pretty soon as well. The spool is muuuch faster and the sound is very nice to me it sounds a bit louder then a normal 3s.

I installed this pipe on my 2nd gen about 2 years ago, and the rear turbo flange faced the wrong way completely. Waaaay off. It was also slightly too tall. I had to have it chopped and re-flanged, and the bolts wouldn't match, so the sides of the flange had to be removed. It also pushed itself close to the driveshaft. It also has no flex section, and made my catback line up terrible. So bad, I had to bolt it on the WRONG side of the hangers just to not hit my bumper. IIRC, I did have an o2 sensor that went into that hole though. Probably a 2nd gen thing.
Would I buy it again? No way. Mine's a cut up, rewelded, still doesn't fit right piece of junk. Save the extra $50 (after fab money + flex section) and buy a regular 3SX, IPS, etc. pipe with a flex section.
