Default Ips Fmic

This kit states perfect fit on the vendors website. Far from it.

The kit took 7 weeks to arrive after numerous excuses.

No instructions available, vendor very hard to reach.

Oil cooler has to be relocated, shift linkage counterweight must be removed, and other minor mods to make fit. Vendor never mentions any of this. Vendor mentions removing carbon cannister - not needed, doesn't interfere with cannister.

Pipes do not fit a 2G (1995) w/ 6 speed tranny & A/C. Pipe will hit transmission and linkage (even without CW) hits the pipe. Needs 1/4"+ dent in pipe to make linkage clear for 2,4,6,reverse.

I had to cut and reweld the pipes that go in and out of the core. Angle was all wrong. Many hours of redoing the angles and welds.

Front turbo pipe - hits radiator hose, creates small kink (needs about 1" better clearance). Again, just poor design on bend. Fix - cut and extend radiator hose so it isn't jammed against fnt turbo pipe (or rebend the pipe).

Welds were poor and also leaked. Rear turbo pipe adapter weld doesn't allow a coupler seal, Must be ground down. Rear turbo pipe also sticks up too far making it hit the hood (can close the hood but it will hit your heatshield).

No vacuum nipple at TB elbow. You must put in your own.

Pipes hit bumper without modifications to pipes or shaving bumper.

Pipes arrived full of polishing compound and aluminum shavings. Several large AL shards also stuck into pipe (not good for your engine eh?). Several areas had burrs hanging on and needed to be de-burred, cleaned up.

Kit arrived short of 1/2 the hose clamps needed and missing 2 couplers. Took a week to get vendor to send the couplers.

Kit rating 1-10 with 10 being the best : 3
Vendor rating: 3
Buy again? : No, never

Intended to just be factual. This was my experience with this kit. Kept as short as possible with just the facts. Harsh only because of the reality of poor quality control and the entire item having to be redone after paying $1700 for something that claimed online to be "perfect fit".

Others may experience better fit (ie , 1G, etc). I dunno.

Actually, I was expecting a -3 from Craig so that was MUCH better than I expected

There are many others (both installed before and after his) that have a wee bit different opinion so he is more than welcome to his

Dude, there is no way that someone as technically competent as Craig is making this up, how about owning up to it and admitting you have a lousy setup for a second gen.
Whatever...

Had I not had my clean-up kid (not even close to a tech) install one a BONE STOCK 94 (I believe that qualifies as a 2nd gen?) in an afternoon I would happily I had two techs and myself inspect it afterwards and it passed with flying colors

However, I wasnt talking about cars here since of course I would say that...

As usual the vendor retorts with what he thinks is funny comebacks. You're correct Roger that I have nothing personal (I don't even know the guy) and he's been paid.

For other members I reported my experience with this product. As well there were other 3000GT owners and knowledgeable people at my shop that saw the very same thing as reported above. Pretty simple really.

The vendor would have one think it was the customer that either made it all up (for what motive? It's paid for.) or is a fool.

So, those looking for a review of the product can take it however they want it. The above review is for the IPS FMIC kit as received in August 2006 from IPS Motorsports.

This forum exists to report product reviews. Not just favorable reviews. This is my review and is 100% factual.
