Default HKS Twin Spark ignition system

So I took the plunge and bought new coil packs, and the HKS Twin Spark to try to cure a misfire at high revs with my GTO TT. The difference is night and day - the car's far smoother at all revs, with no misfire at all. Probably took me 2 hrs to swap the coils and install the HKS - I didn't use the splice things in the box that came with the HKS though - they looked a bit cheap, so got some proper connectors and soldered them.

Of course, it may have been a weak coil, but I'm very happy now, and just waiting to go back to the dyno next week to see how far we can turn the boost up.

So overall:

HKS Twin Spark 9/10 (loses 1pt for the cheap splicers)

Hi, it really is easy - You just bolt the unit somewhere where the lead with all the yellow wires can reach the coil packs - I bolted it next to the cruise control box on the left side of the engine bay. Then connect the ground wire somewhere - should be a few choices near the unit. Use 3 of the yellow wires connected to the negative poles on the coils, and the red wire (that's also in the bundle with the yellow wires) connects to one of the positive poles (all the positive poles on the coil packs are connected to each other, so it doesn't matter which you use.) I used plenty of tie wraps to ensure it was all nice and tight, and also taped up the other yellow wires that were not used to make them safe. That's pretty much all there is to it - I took the bracket that holds the 3 coil packs off of the car to connect the wires up - as I also changed the coils at the same time, I think it would be pretty difficult to do with the coils still attached to the engine.

Obviously make sure the battery is disconnected while you're doing all this - once you're done, start the car up and make sure the little LED on the TwinSpark is glowing - it's not very bright at idle, but you should be able to see it.

My car's in the garage again at the moment having the gearbox rebuilt, but I'll try to get some pictures up once I get it back!

I'm in the UK, got it from one of the online stores. It was well worth a couple of hours work fitting it. I doubt it's beyond anyone's skills - hell if I managed it, anyone can!
