Default The Clutch Review Thread

ACT 2600 - bought brand new from speedfactor. Installed October 2002 on my 3000GT NA w/ 54k at the time and now 60k. 6000 miles and no complaints. Was like learning how to drive a manual all over again (may be due to the light fly installed at the same time). This sucker grabs hard and has very little "feathering" ability. Exactly what I wanted.

NOTE: Might not be everyone's daily driver decision. I had a ACT 2100 in my TSi and that was much more streetable.

got my ACT2600 for my FWD/TT 3000GT installed at speedfacotr as well! only lasted me a little less than 15k miles i'd like to have a bit more off a clutch , just my opinion.

we'll see how the next clutch holds it holds about 100 lbs of torque

100lbs of torque? Is it a go-kart clutch?

15k off of a turbo conversion clutch really isnt that bad depending on how you drove it. And considering you tt converted I assume you didnt drive like a granny, otherwise what the hells the point.

I have an XTD Stage 3. It's rated to hold 660hp and like 2600ftlbs of torque. I like it.

2600 lbs of toruqe?? You mean 600ft/lb?

I am going with the Spec stage2, I am going to stay away from puck clutches this time, and I figure that a kevlar full faced disk is the best way to go, with a 2700 lb face. I just don't want to have to drop the tranny again after 4k miles. I get a smokin deal on mine for only a little over $600 with a lightweight Spec flywheel, its good to have good connections.

My Spec stage II from 3SX is awesome. I have had many different clutches over the years and this is the best thus far.

First of all I bought it planning to run dr500's and 550 injectors on pump gas. After I changed my mind and went with the bigger toys I talked to Steve and he said to give it a shot and see how it does. It does great! I have over 25 drag launches on it already and its fine. I trapped over 121mph a few times. 19 of those runs came back to back within 4 hours of each other.

Anyways, unlike all my other clutches, there was 0 chattering during break in period. Its smooth and to top it off the pedal pressure feels very close to stock IMO and I don't even have a clutch booster.

Eventually my stage 2 will fail from the abuse I give it but you can bet my next clutch will be a Spec stage 3 from 3SX.

The SPEC clutch is just a modified OE clutch. I was very disappointed to find the lack of any real R&D done by this company. All I could find done to my clutch is that they used a stock Daikin (Exedy) pressure plate and put heaver springs in it. They could have at least used the Exedy performance cover.

I have an RPS Twin Disk Carbon-Carbon clutch, must say it is by far the best high out put performance clutch out there, i honestly can say that i dont think anything eles can touch its perfection, not only that but the warrenty is life time, so, why not pay a little more to get a lot more, if you got power, and you want to put it to the wheels, RPS is the way to go!
