Default ACPT vs. PST 5 speed cfds [ACPT WINS]

i didn't want to post until i had everything worked out. basically, i had the pst driveshaft for a week or so. i was able to test it and found that at 80-90mph, i had vibrations, regardless of how many times i rotated it.

i was able to get into the tail end of GT Pro's last gb on the ACPT cfds 1piece. after waiting a while due to ACPT's balancing machine went down, i finally got the shaft. i installed it and had some horrible vibrations. i returned it right away (GT Pro paid for return shipping). instead of taking the shaft back to inspect before sending a new one or fixing the old one, they said they would just send me a new unit right away. that's excellent customer service. i got the new shaft in and installed it yesterday. it didn't take multiple rotations to make it work right. it worked right the very first time i installed it. no vibrations, no issues, one happy customer.

i'm guessing their balancing machine was still a little out of whack or something before i got the 2nd shaft. BIG THANKS to Denis @ GT Pro. if he hadn't always been courteous to me, i probably would have been angry about the time i waited for the first shaft. he helped me during the process of getting a new shaft. he also would stop whatever work he was currently doing to speak with me to figure out the current situation with the shaft. i'm sure Arlene is a wonderful person. I've emailed her back in the day about shafts and she was always a great point of contact. i just want people to know that Denis is also top notch about customer service.

why do i say ACPT wins?- the ACPT cfds has been well designed, and for my car at least, worked better than the pst. couple that with the lower price, acpt's willingness to do gb's, GT Pro's excellent customer service, and you have yourself a winner.

the interesting thing to note is that the ACPT cfds is actually smaller in diameter than the PST. the larger the diameter, the less harmonic whip you should find in a ds. the fact that ACPT has been able to design a cfds with a smaller diameter with no vibration issues is a testament of how much engineering go into their shafts. i'm not knocking pst's engineering or design. i just want to reassure people that the design differences in both shafts are to the benefit of us all. regardless if you purchase from pst or acpt, ur still getting a great product. one cannot discount the hundreds of people running the pst shaft with no problems. i just happen to be biased.

Awesome to hear. Tho I am curious how many 'incorrect' or 'unproperly' balanced ds's are out there from that batch that you were first part of. Hopefully those people who get them will be quick to realise that it is a faulty shaft and NOT push on hoping it will 'wear' itself in.

my shaft and 1 other were the only 2 to be balanced after the machine went down, so i don't think there are going to be many problems. i'm sure GT Pro will take care of any issues the other customer will have. they did with me.

Glad you are happy, this is the most important thing to us!!

ACPT is the ONLY driveshaft company producing their driveshafts as a *side business*, they are a defense contractor, and build stuff for NASA as well. The owner is a car nut, hence why we have drivshafts, and R&D behind them like no other.
