I am planning on my TT conversion shortly. All maintenence is complete (120k). Compression is good. My engine can handle TT with no problem. I read all the guides and know what the process entails, but I don't know much about which turbos are compatible with our manifolds. Will any TD04 turbocharger work? Also, I noticed that some turbos are only oil cooled. If I am to start out with an aftermarket turbo that is only oil cooled there is no point to get the thermostat housing and water feed\return lines. I found a generic TD04 on ebay. What do you think??
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/T25-T...QQcmdZViewItem Also, could anyone tell me what the specs(oil only, or water AND oil) are on the other bolt on turbocharger replacements(13G, 16G, etc...) Thanks |

that looks like a t25/t28 flange rather than a tdo4. You need a tdo4 turbo, and really that is it. you won't flow too much air to need more than that. In fact I think 13g's on a 10:1 car would be the perfect setup for great spool with enough CFM's

Any TD04 made for our car will fit the Twin Turbo exhaust manifolds without modifications. the 13g,15g,17g,dr500,dr650,ect will all bolt on directly. Also all of these turbo's are oil and water cooled.

Isnt this a CAR SITE?

TD04 is just the centre cartridge. Its the exhaust housing you need to concentrate on. If it wasnt built for our car, it wont fit (without alot of reworking) ie: volvo td04, dsm td04, etc...
Look at the exhaust housing bolts on the Ebay picture (4 square) then look at the picture below from a 3S turbo (3 triangle). You need the turbo to have the 3 bolt connection to bolt to your exhaust manifold. I imagine twin 9B's would be the cheapest pair of turbos. And they bolt right up. Considering they blow 15psi on turbo motors, I imagine they would be in a great efficiency zone at 6-8psi on your high compression NA motor. Probably best to stick with those. ![]() |
