You can always yank the timing out a little bit and turn the boost up to get the turbos in their efficiency range but then again timing = power. so lower timing vs higher boost ends up starting to make less power at a certain point so you may not get too far with that. If i remember correctly there is a company that makes a slightly thicker headgasket that would drop the compression a little bit (9:5:1) which gives you more room. Honestly i dont remember what company but its somthing to look into. Or you can try the double headgasket trick which ive tried on a couple motors (6g72 NOT being one of them) and it has worked with good results. yes. if you get 8:1 compression pistons you should easily be able to run 15psi. for the tt guys its one of the first things they do is to crank it up there.
