as far as td05 turbos are concerned, you can find those at any 3/S or DSM vender, or turbo places such as forced performance. Why have you chosen td05's? Thats overkill for a non-turbo motor, and you would have to find adapter plates and piece together your own adapter plate kit or buy the td05 conversion kit from 3sx, DR, etc. which is 2 grand alone not including the turbos, plus everything else needed for the tt conversion.
Personally, if your running a non-turbo motor, td04 13G's is the most you need.

I only had to do a little modification for my TD05 kit. Off the top of my head, I think the only modification I had to do was the turbo pipes, coolant lines, and the radiator. The coolant lines, which not everyone uses, just required a few AN hose fittings. I got around radiator by buying slim-line fans. (Note: not all TD05 kits require slimmer fans. Also, you can sometimes use a second driver's fan.) The pipes required the sawzzaw. On a stock engine, I agree. You'd be better off getting smaller, quicker spooling turbos. Something along the lines of a 13G or 13T would be good.

I was working on coops car. He changed the manifolds, pipes, fans, oil lines, adapter plates, intercooler (I assume stock would heat soak). He clocked the turbos (or one) and fabed wasegate adapters and intercooler piping, power steering cooler had to delete the AC. That’s just some of the stuff I can remember. I don’t know if it was any kind of kit. Are you running TD05 on 10:1?

I bought an IPS kit for my 8:1 motor (AWD). The kit included manifolds, 02 housings, oil feed/return lines, gaskets, internal wastegates, and turbos. I also purchased the IPS intercooler adapters - not part of the kit, but available through IPS. Coolant lines (which not everyone runs) were assembled by me for about $75 in -AN parts. There was definitely a lot less modification required on my end. I was able to retain AC, and I did not need to move the powesteering cooler. |

1) It took a while for IPS to get all of the parts/gaskets shipped to me. I won't hold that against them, as they sold a ton of kits at the same time and were having trouble restocking certain parts. 2) IPS never informed me that I would need to replace the passenger's side radiator fan. It would have been helpful to know that when I placed the order, but now you can learn from my mistake. Slim fans or a second driver's side fan is needed.3) I punctured the radiator while reinstalling it. Oops. My fault. The front doesn't leave a lot of room for the radiator, so just be careful and you'll be fine. 4) I could not position the rear manifold in place without grinding down part of the rear motor mount bracket. I have seen several people report that this was not a problem. It was for me. I spent about 20 minutes grinding the mount bracket down about 1/4" with a drill attachment. No biggie. 5) A couple of the rear precat/turbo bolts were difficult to tighten correctly. They weren't impossible, but they were hard to get to because of the weird angles. I was able to get them tight enough with an assortment of different wrenches. ![]() I'll post pics of my cars in just a second. As for your engine, I'd definitely recommend going to 8:1 compression before getting 16Gs. These turbos like to scream up top. Trust me, they just beg for you to push your motor. ![]() |
