Default TT Build Planning

Greetings:

So I was given the OK by wife to do my TT conversion ('93 3000gt atx). I have been reading through tons of threads and it I don't think this is going to be extremely difficult. I've made my extensive parts list and just started on collecting parts. (Thanks to Cureact on my great deal on the 9b turbos.) I will slowly add to my parts as funds allow. I hope to be able to maybe do the conversion next year. Anyway...after reading threads on parts needed and talking to some turbo tech friends. The one piece I seem to be missing is ECU requirements. I see some threads on the rewiring of the TT ECU to the N/A, but is the ECU swap a must?

If there is a thread on this that I missed (even after doing searches) please direct me to it.

Thank you for you help.

Jason

I am pretty darn sure it is a must. Never read anything about using the N/A ECU on the TT conversion. But lets see what the experts say.

You dont have to, it just makes for easier tuning. You can just get tuning devices and run the na ecu.

Thanks. I think I'll add it to my list and follow BigTylas writeup.

Here's my list so far. The only item I have on it's way is the 9b's.

9b turbos with oil lines and exhaust fittings
TT ECU
TT Wireharness adapter
FMIC
Exhaust manifolds and gaskets from VR4
o2 housings and precats - VR4
Oil housing - VR4
Joint on back of engine block for rear oil feed line
modify oil pan for oil lines
water housing - VR4
360cc injectors
fuel pump VR4
Injector resistor pack
Front motor mount bracket
Oil cooler with lines
S-AFC or S-AFR
Boost Gauge
Air/Fuel ratio gauge
Exhaust temp gauge (2 - frt & Rr)
Valve Seals (Clean up that little smoking)
Timing Belt and Water Pump (Due in 10k anyways)

If yous notice I am missing something and have any advice/suggestions please let me know. This will be my first TT build. I don't plan on rushing it and wasting $'s right away on new parts. I'd like to do this in the Spring, but if I have to wait, oh well.

So, if you have used parts sitting around and looking to sell CHEAP (or free ). Let me know.

Thanks,

Jason

I just want to post a quick update on the build. So far the parts are coming together nicely thanks to the fine folks here on 3si.org.

One question though hopefully someone can help me on. I got my SAFC yesterday and it is pretty damn cool. Can I install this in my N/A in the meantime to see the cool lights and to make sure all works ok without screwing anything up? By this I mean, make some little adjustments and put it back to no adjustments? I am new to these and do not have a manual. I've done some searches, but most posts describe how to tune them once they've done their builds/upgrades.

I found one stating they are going to put it on an N/a to pull more HP but no results or settings. I'll try and find that and give a post for an update.

If you've got a cheap wideband A/F, TT ecu (1st gen), or oil housing let me know your asking price.

Thanks,

Jason

on a non turbo its just the little part that threads into the block behind the oil pump behind the oil pressure sensor that the oil temp sensor is threaded into, then on the TT they changed it so there its a Y so you can connect the oil feed line for the rear turbo.

hey you need more than just the front motor mount bracket. The front motor mount assembly is a 3 peice setup. there is the rubber mount that is attached to the frame rail (that is the same NA or tt) then there is a C bracket that bolts onto the main mount that bolts to the engine. Be sure you get the main mount bracket and the C bracket.
