Default Thinking about giving up

I have had this car for about 2 years now and it has been nothing but a drain on my bank account.I never thought this day would come but im seriously debating giving up .I picked up the car from Jeff Nihlean(rush6432) about two years ago.Since then I have invested over $8000 on repairs/upgrades,70% being repairs. Its just every time I go and buy something to make it faster something always goes wrong or breaks. Now im looking at a blown headgasket if not a fucked motor.Being a student and only 18 I cant afford to be dropping in a new block.Im paying 21k for school, and $900 a month for my apartment.I do have to say however if I continue and can somehow find the funds I will be dropping in an 8:1 and redoing the turbo setup as well as running a hell of alot more boost. Also I will never let any other car place other than IPS or myself touch my car every again.Lately I was upset with IPS becasue of my last visit. However they know what they are doing. Its just a matter of them taking the time to look at everything.Which is where they sometimes lack.I just thought I would let you all know thanks for all the help through the years as well as being just all around cool.Especially Mr.3000,3000hybrid,AdamVr4,and of course Rush6432

Dang man...I'm sad to hear that you are thinking about giving up. Your car has always been an inspiration for me. Ever since I saw that vid of it doing some pulls, I've wanted to be single turbo haha. Best of luck to you man. I am actually done once I finish this build, whatever I make is what I make. I've got better, more important things in my life to throw my assets (time, money) at such as getting married and getting a house. I hope that you make the decision to keep rolling but if it is not feasable financially, I totally understand. I wish you the best of luck. Even though I haven't met you in person, you've been a good friend brother. Keep it real and keep your head up bro.

Yeah its hard man this whole thing just flat out sucks.I wanted to have a FWD that could potentially run nines one day. This all seemed possible too based on the power per psi its currently making I mean hell the ebay wastegates were only 6.8 and she pulled 384 wheel.I was so excited to see where ten psi would net her at as well as 16-19 with meth and race gas.But that no longer seems possible.Even if I do drop in a new block and can some how get the money,a getrag will be needed if I plan on launching her.I dont want to quit but school,my girlfriend and a roof over my head is more important then my car. However thanks for everything man I hate that this has happened I really wanted to race you one day as well as meet you.But thanks for keeping me going while it lasted I liked the competition.

Wow...this thread is bringing a tear to my eye. That is one thing i have noticed from the na forced induction thread is the comradery that forms between one another. Most of us have never met, however, each of us try to help out one another in many ways the best we can.

Hope everything works out raven!

Dang, I've been following your other thread pretty well and I too wish you the best of luck. I hope you don't have to sell it but let me know if you decide to, I'd be happy to fix her up and make shit right if you ever do. I'd love to see ya finish it though - I've been wanting to do a lot of the same things to my base model that you've done with yours, that car has really been an inspiration. Again, I wish ya the best of luck man, try not to give up on it

Raven I never thought of you as a quitter. Its ok we all go though it. Just buy more like me and filter out the bad ones.

Seriously...take a few weeks to sit back and figure it out. Best of luck.

It's also only money without being ridiculous.

buy a 2nd car. Cars are a passion of mine and i don't want to live without the passion. 2nd car you drive around till you want to throw some money at your ride. Also doing everything yourself means youve got no pressure to set time constraints.

Also you're 18 within reason doesn't matter what the fuck you do at your age. I'm 22 and still learning and messing around. Ill earn money in a yr or to and then i'll keep on top of other stuff.

Also you're 18 why are you worried about anything.

Ps in Aus we have hex ie you pay for uni once you finish and are earning money (pay it back at a rate). Parents shouting kids and kids working themselves to death to pay for uni is fail.

Just make sure you're happy.

I have been where you are now more then once.
I can't even begin to tell you all the HELL this car has put us thru.
Mental and financial.
But when it's good....it's sooooo good and for awhile the bad dosen't seem so bad.
Mine has been in the shop for about 2 months now and I can't wait to get my hands back on it.
I was on my way to work this morning and on the corner was a nice 93 VR4 for sale so I had to stop and take a look.
It reminded of the rush I felt the first time I saw mine and couldn't rest until I made it my own.
They can be a lot of stress to own but I can't imagine it not being parked in my driveway.....a few months of the year.

Good luck with your decision.

Granny
