SC vs Turbo ?

I seem to loose my get up and go when I shift into 3rd gear. The shift from second to third with a 6000 rpm shift point dropped my rpm below 4000. It is like forever to get momentum going and then oh oh here comes the turbo car passing me. My trap speed was only 95mph, though.

Why would you shift at 6000RPM with a 7000 redline and 7300 rev limit?

Do you have any intercooling or I guess aftercooler for a supercharger?

Not to mention the parasitic loss of the supercharger to begin with.

Anyways even with 9b's I notice a decent pick up in the 90-100+ area once I upgraded to DSM SMIC's? The stock IC's would get heat soaked pretty good with just one good pull through 3 gears pretty much killing the topend ability.

DSM SMIC's are about twice the size and don't get hot and the pull stays pretty much the same. Just a thought as to the difference in pull up top.

I shift at 6000 rpm because the dyno indicated I had no gain in power after that point. This was the shift point the tuner selected.

No intercooler....yet. I have some stock VR4 side mounts that I may install but I am not sure how much they will help since I will be cooling the charge before the air reaches the supercharger. The water/alcohol injection will probably be more effective.

Default Re: Supercharger

two things

1 just because you are not gaining any more power beyond 6k rpms doesn't make that your shift point. The goal is to have the most AVERAGE hp for your run down the track or whatever meaning you want to take your shift point a little PAST peak hp so that when you shift and the rpms fall they do not fall to far down the powerband to DECREASE your average hp for the run. Don't be surprised if your car runs a little bit better taking it to 6500 through 2nd gear and 63xx for 3rd.

2nd you are right about the alchy injection but with a supercharger if you have it set to come in you will be using alot of alcohol since you will build boost so easy.

Kibwe nailed it. Just because you dont gain power doesnt mean you shift there. You want to shift whereas your RPMS fall right back into the powerband. Shifting at 6000 rpm you are severely hurting your times.
