That's correct! I was thinking the same thing. If we increase the wrap angle of the belt on the pulley then you will be able to overcome the slippage due to the increased frictional surface area.
How would you attach the pulley at that point? Anyone has pics of the front of a block?
(I'm planning an sc setup too, but I don't know much about boost, wastegates, etc. I work as a process engineer, so I'll try to pitch in when I can) cheers!
i would mount it with a bracket thi i have to make im going to have to get a AC pulley with the flat side and bolt it to the bracket

im just curious to see how this all turns out. let me know when you have it going. i have the ripp s/c on my car... love it. the belt obviously is different than your setup, seeing the charger takes it at the front of the engine. i had to put supplemental injectors right before my plenum because when i changed the stockers, it effed everything up. its been so long sinc i did it that i forgot alot, but let me know if i can answer any questions. ill do my best.
good luck!

I recently put a six rib belt on my Eaton SC. It was a bit pricey to get it to mount correctly but it is definitely the way to go. Here is how I did it:
I had a local fab shop make a tensioner out of 1/2" steel plate shaped like a piece of pie with mounting holes in the same position and shape of original power steering pump tensioner. I used a standard mistu belt pulley (like in the ac/alt belt tensioner) at the tip of the pie. I also cut a 1/2" square notch on the left side to use a 1/2" drive socket or breaker bar to tension the belt. The belt wraps the SC pulley with 70-75% contact. You will have to figure out how many washers to use as spacers when mounting the tensioner.
I also had a six rib pulley custom made so that it is the correct spacing just past the timing belt cover. I also had a custom six rib pulley made for my power steering pump while maintaining the original offset.
I used an 8" mitsu harmonic balancer to drive the belt. I don't recall which model car it was for, but I have that info filed. I am presently set up for 7psi, but 10psi is easily attainable. I was there with my old four rib belt system (but it slipped badly). I just went conservative in the pulley size because I wasn't sure what my boost would really be. I went with a 1:2 drive ratio (8" drive pulley, 4" SC pulley). A 3.5" SC pulley should get me 9 or 10psi. That will be my final pulley change.
I did install 8:1 pistons and I already had VR4 injectors with a resistor pack. I have single digit engine knock and full timing advance on a stock NA ECU and SAFC II.
The one problem I have yet to resolve is the higher revolutions on my power steering pump. It is spinning almost twice as fast because of the 8" harmonic balancer. The fluid gets hot fast. I just ordered a six pass tube and fin transmission oil cooler to cool the power steering fluid (Castrol Dextron VI). I hope that does the job. I may also take the PS pump apart and remove 50% of the compressor vanes to lower the pressure.
PM me if you would like some pics, part #s, other sources.
Good luck. You'll enjoy the low end torque. This is a great mod for a rally/autocross car.

Reason: misspelling
i have been skimming around this site for a while and came across a few things ... i know this is jumping off topic but hey, so i was reading up on my trany and i read that it cant spin fast enough to get top speed of a boosted NA??? says its limmited to like 140 or something so i have a future plan ok would this work ---> get a TT trany and plug it up than get an lsd since they are like ALOT cheaper than the NA ones then run that NON awd then when i get some more cash get the awd setup??? and so all i need to dio to get 8:1 compression is to get some TT pistons ??? and throw thwm in my NA with NO problems and have 8:1 compression??
Yes, a lot of people are using an AWD tranny as a FWD. I have the six speed transmission that I was planning to put in my car as FWD but have decided to just go AWD and skip the other. To do it you need a bad VCU (if you weld a good one you will be hated on this forum forever) also if you want to go awd later then you want to save it. You need a block off plate to plug the hole where the output shaft would be. You weld the spider gears and the VCU and install the block off plate. You will also need some other things like the axles and knuckles. Also if you are using a six speed you need the cables.
