is drifting WAY too hard!

Well I was getting bored at wastegate boost in my 10:1 VR4 so I tossed in an MBC I had laying around while I wait for my AVC-D to show up.
At first I couldn't boost over 9psi without it breaking up and missing. I wasn't sure if this was me detonating or if I was having spark blowout. I was running some ngk bcp7es plugs at their normal gap out of the box I believe (all about .036) As a test I went and tossed a few gallons of 100 octane in my tank to raise my octane level a little. This actually got me to about 10-11 psi (as indicated by my crummy Autometer boost guage) before the breakup occured again. This made me wonder if I was actually knocking and it wasn't a blowout. I since ran the tank down and filled up with a few more gallons of 100, so I'm probably running around on some 98-99 octane right now Yesterday I decided to just change out the plugs anyway and replace the 1 stock wire I had put on when I crushed an MSD wire. Put in a fresh set of ngk bcp7es again gapped at .028 this time. The old plugs came out and all looked identical with a nice tan tip (that means good a/f right? black and white are bad, correct?) Now I'm boosting 13psi and its pretty peppy. Above that and I start to get some break up. I wonder if I'm really just encountering limits of my ignition. I was bidding on an HKS twin power on ebay, but forgot about it and lost out on a smokin' deal, lol. Anyway, 10:1 and 13psi is pretty fun ![]()

I is not monitoring knock, lol, that's why I upped the octane.
I figure if this motor 'splodes I'll just put an 8:1 back in there and forget this ever happened. 10:1 was not the best idea I've ever had, lol Guess I need to get a hybrid logger and swap in my hybrid ECU or get that evoscan shit or whatever works with the 96+ ecu. |

Man it must be nice to say yeah if this motor blows from me overboosting it too much for no reason then meh I'll just buy the 3.5 6G74 swap, why not.
