I doubt anyone has tried it. Easier to just use OEM stuff and probably cheaper also.

Any reasons why your looking into that opposed to a TT conversion?

depends on what stage kit he gets. if he gets the base turbo setup and then ebays piping and figures up the set up on his own, then it could come out cheaper. i know there is another thread in this forum that one guy is trying it. it would e nice if they produced a kit for the 3/s, that would give us sohc guys a good oportunity

I am going to try it homemade style instead of from STS. Have the turbo already, waiting on buddy to make flange to bolt up to exhaust then gotta get oil figured out but our stock sending unit to the oil filter has a Y piece for turbo oil lines due to turbo option with our cars so that should get oil to the turbo. Coming back is different but the spot im looking at is fairly close to the oil pan so vaccum should be enough to pull the oil back. Then the only other thing to do is find out where i can run the intake pipe back up to connect with the MAF without jepredizing ground clearance and its ready to run. Perhaps someone with more underbody time could help with clearance issues because i havent spent much time down there. Everyone worries about fuel but my thought was that MAF would correct itself and just hold injectors open longer or just a change to a bigger injector but im no expert so let me know what you think.

I personally would figure something else out for the oil to a return from the turbo.
The way you have it planned can starve your turbo for oil, causing your turbine to seize, or burn up. Turbos need alot of oil to keep cool.

I also think you arre under estimating the a/f ratios that differ from n/a engines and fi
You will need things like an ecu/any ecu that will work im not sure theres options. And bigger injecters are a must, a higher flow fuel pump, things like this.

Go speed density and not worry about the mas.
There wont be enough 'suction' to properly drain the oil, your going to need a scavenge pump.
You still need an ecu, injectors, intercooler piping, etc...

doing the same here as far as no kit, i have vr4 injectors which i think are 450 cc, and will change fuel pump to walbro 255, i think it will take a pump for the oil , i do know that intercooler is not necessary, being as exhaust to the turbo is so much cooler than comming from manifold and compressing it into the return tubing to the plennum also cools it much more. not sure about the mas yet need to do more research.

Yup, without the pump, that rearmount turbo will die.

When people have the ability to weld, I dont see why they dont just do a normal turbo setup in the engine bay.

Dapps, you are gonna spend a buttload just trying to get your car set up for any type of F.I, let alone going single turbo. Don't fool yourself.

Whoever said stock VR4 injectors are 450cc, that is incorrect, they are only 360cc and you will need resistors to run them properly.
