Default single turbo setup

anyone have a single turbo setup in an atuomatic sl 3kgt or stealth. I just bought one off a guy and looking to transfer the transmission to manual afterwords
would the stock transmission on a 98sl handle 6lbs of boost?
and how much faster would it make it around 13sec.? also looking at putting an extra 16g turbo i have on it is that to much. thanks for any input>

None of those questions have definate answers.

As far as adding a 16G to an already "single" turbo kit, that's stupid and wouldn't work anyway.

1. I'm not aware of any single turbo ATX's
2. I'm with ^, putting on a 16G with a single would be absolutely pointless.
3. Add an external trans cooler to the list of parts. The ATX internals have proven to handle over 800 whp if set up properly.

Would the stock trans hold 6lbs of boost? You don't even mention which turbo you would be using.. Either way, the trans should be able to take 6 psi. Do you have a question about converting to a 5-speed? Are you asking if a 5-speed conversion would be in the 13's or if a single turbo @ 6 psi would be in the 13's? again, you don't specify ANY details about the turbo or the setup! It could slow you down, or you could be in the 12's all depending.

What do you mean, "put an extra 16g turbo?" Are you talking about a sequential setup? either way it's a bad idea to try anything like that if you have to ask about it.

OK, to answer some of your questions from my experiences.

*my stock fwd 5spd trans has help up to a 19psi spike, and is daily driven with the boost set at 16psi.
*my car was not easy to get into the 13's. I have stock suspension and 8" wide all-season tires. Out of 10 passes at the track, only 2 of them were in the 13's. Your suspension and tire setup is what is mostly going to determine whether or not you can run 13's consistantly. With that being said, I don't believe that 6psi is enough to power your car into the 13's.

What does your single turbo setup consist of? And like I said before, now that you have a single turbo setup, you cannot add another one. It will not work. Doesn't matter if it's sequential or not.

You most definitely can add another turbo to a single setup.. It just requires cutting and welding (it will not be a "single turbo" setup anymore either though). Almost no reason to run a setup like that on a car where you will not be building over 30 psi though (diesel)

my bad guys the turbo i belive is a garret 28r that came with the kit. I have a big evo lll 16g that i was going to put on my 93 vr4 but went with a 650r and 13g setup at 10to1 with 14psi
Besides that this is my gf 98 sl with 108k i bought the kit for. The car has stage2 mods intake wires exhaust but auto transmission slowing it way down makes me almost not want to drive it. Looks are the main reason. She wanted a turbo so im working on getting it in there pics to come.

A single 16G is no where near enough turbo. A single GT28 (assuming its a real Garrett turbo) is not really big enough either. Do you have any more specs on the GT28?
