Lovin' my Stealth!

Ripp,
I've had time to go through the Instruction Manual that came with my DOHC SDS kit, and I have some questions: - What, if any, gauges would you recommend we get to compliment the system? - The instruction manual makes no mention of the AFC that comes with the kit. - You said that you would provide us with some base numbers to input, but there is nothing there. - I've read through the instruction manual that comes with the AFC, and quite frankly, a lot of it is over my head. Would it be possible to get a point by point walkthrough of the tuning of this? The install seems straight forward (I assume that we are using the GTO figures?), but the tuning is way too general, as it serves as a guideline for over a hundred different cars. As you have already gone through this, a little help would be appreciated. - I always like to be prepared and have spare belts on hand. How do we get spare belts for this? Do we need to order through you, or can you provide us with a part number or something?

Tom, I was waiting for this. Thanks, I didn't want to steal your job.lol.
PROBLEM, so far, I can not reach that small 12mm bolt that is under the 2- 14mm bolts connected to the alt. brkt. NEED a tip. I am going to remove the dr. side mtr mt.allowing a bit more room. I hope that does it? Any other suggestions will be most helpful. I have checked out www.stealth316.com, thank goodness for people like JL. In regards to the trimming of the fan shroud. It's the passenger side, not the drivers side. I used a dremel with a cutting disc, worked great and looks better than the proto. I smoothed the edges with a flat file. I can't see where the flipping upside down of the a/c hose brkt. will allow for enough room for the shaft to fit. I have had mine that way (upside down) for awhile now, and just removed it all together for now. Rob |

SDS powered

I started my installation. I've already installed the S-AFC, the injectors, and the FPR. I can't get the damn lines loose for the fuel pump, two cans of penetrating oil and a can of rust off and it still won't budge. The other problem I've run into is that I have a couple of parts from the kit that I can't identify so I'm not sure exactly where they go. Not sure which 'fitting provided' is the fitting for the blower oil feed for one. Also, apparently no one has any base settings for the AFC, not that I care too much I'll take it and dyno tune it anyway, but it is inconvenient. Finally, I know which spark plugs to use, but what should they be gapped to? I'm sure its not .044, I had to run mine down to .038 just to get rid of the blowout from my nitrous. Anyone else having any issues?

- Boost - Air fuel ratio - A third or fourth gauge can be handled a few different ways; - Exhaust temp (for tuning) - Oil pressure (monitoring the engine) - Trans temp (monitor ATX temps) The instruction are for the SDS the AFC2 is wired directly to the ECU using either the instruction included in the AFC2 box for the GTO. We did however provide some base numbers to get you to the DYNO. Hers is a thread on the HOW TO of the AFC: http://www.prostreetonline.com/pso/p...o/2gnewafc.asp It will be an excellent source for now….we can put together something more formal. Quote:
Cutting the fan shroud with a dremel tool is an excellent example…. Quote:
The lines underneath are by far easier to remove, going back and forth helps… and using the penetrating fluid only works if you can get it into the threads, spraying it all over only wastes fluid. The oil line feed and return where all handled when we sent out he revised instruction manual. One step colder plugs gapped at .25-.28 will work perfect, stay away from platinum as they have a suppressor in them… we’ve tested this several times over a simple NGK TYPE R or V Racing will work perfect, change them once a year and you’ll be golden. Everyone would at least like to know where our instructions are for doing a base tune on the S-AFC that we were promised. |
