Default Oil pan modification?

Alright so... i've got a 96 base that i'm really interested in TTing. i'm not a mechanic but after reading a lot on the twin turbo conversion i feel like i'm capable to do it. i do have one big question that is bothering me and it's that i don't really fully understand what's going on with the oil pan and what i need to get done to it. i understand that i need to have at least one, maybe two? lines that go into the oil pan for the oil dump from the turbo. I guess i'd like to see pictures of someone's modified oil pan and i'd like to know the best way to go about getting it done and if i could do it myself. any help would be greatly appreciated!
Ricky

You need to modify you oil pan so the turbo oil return lines can dump the oil back into the pan. You need to weld the oil return line brackets to your pan and drill the holes out for the oil and bolts to go through. The way I am gonna do it is get the turbos and lines completly bolted up then mark where I need to make the holes then take it apart and drill the holes and weld the brackets on. My engine is out and completly disassembled so thats the easiest way for me to do it.

I am fairly sure that a tt oil pan will not fit because of the oil pumps are different on na's and tt's.

If you find anybody doing a large turbo conversion, you may want to check to see if they are going to run coolant lines. You may be able to work out a trade.

Yup, that will work.

A '91 - '92 (two bolt) TT oil pan will bolt up to a N/A block, but if you have a 2nd gen N/A ('94+) the pan will not work with your oil pump.

So unless you have a '91-'92 block that you're doing the conversion on, your best option is to modify your stock N/A pan.

Here are some pics of my N/A pan.
