SMOKING- I also had a problem that looks like yours. My turbos wouldn't drain oil fast enough and caused a terrible smoking problem.

Like you said first check compression- then i suggest a new OEM PCV valve. I ultimately had to get krank vents to keep my car from smoking.
I put in a new OEM pcv valve before i put the engine in, but knowing how screwed up my order was, I woulndnt be suprised if it was a NA pcv valve. I guess i still wont know anything till I check compression.

I completely understand. A compression test is like going to the doctor. It sucks until you do it and find out nothings really wrong.

I drained the oil today to see if i could find any water in it, and it smelled like gas, i changed the oil. So i guess that means im running rich. so im going to check the injectors, spark plugs. anything else i should check? i still dont really get why im smoking so bad.

One of the things i remembered when i was coming back from the exhaust shop and my temp got to 230, when i opened the hood, i saw smoke coming out from underneath the spark plug cover plate. Does that give anyone any ideas? I know theres that little circular gasket on the valve covers, i replaced them all but didnt use any rtv or anything. If those were leaking could that be the source of my problem maybe?

pull one or two of the plugs and see what it looks like might give you a better idea as to how its running and why.id also get the fans working and see if it still overheats probably just a junk thermostat if it still does

I just found that the bad coolant temp sensor can cause the car to run rich.
Well what i did with my coolant temp sensor was i took it off my 95 na block and put it in the my new 92 tt engine's water housing so my 95 na harness would still plug into it and i left the 3rd sensor(ac switch) unplugged since it wasnt even on my 95 na waterneck. Was this ok to do. Would my 92 tt ecu be able to use the 95 na's sensor through the 95 na harness?

As long as the pins are lining up properly I do not see why not.

Though take answers from me concerning electrical with a grain of salt. My luck with wires is far from a perfect game.

But I do not see why this would be a problem.
