I guess this will be my official thread on this, i had another going but i dont think anyone really saw it cause of the title. Anyways heres my progress so far. 9 months ago my car spun a bearing right before i was going to do a tt conversion. So i got a jdm motor.
This is what i found when i pulled the tranny(ats twin carbon clutch):
I took my transmission up to es3000gt to get my vcu welded:
I tried to turn the engine and it would hit a point, then i try to turn it the other way and it would get to a point and get stuck. FUCK!!!
After pulling the lower intake manifold i found a bolt in there, so i pulled that out, still the same problem. So i end up pulling both heads. I found a washer stuck between the valve and the cylinder head. After i pulled that out everything spun freely. So i contined to do a 120k on the motor. I didnt want to have the oil pan off outside, so i carted the motor into my bedroom with this:
Dont tell me you have never used your moms little gardening cart to carry around your engine.

Put the pan back on and carted it back outside cause i realized i would never be able to move it with the heads on.
First head on:
and a complete longblock again:
almost ready to drop in:
In the process of putting on the timing belt. I didnt have anything to hold the cams in place so i just put a ratchet on each cam gear and lined them up long enough to put on the belt and clip it down with binder clips. The first time I tried this the clips shot off the front cams and the gear cut the shit out of my finger while i was trying to wrap it around the water pump pulley.
I cleaned up the tranny a little bit before install:
along with the valve cover
and i have been in the process of polishing this plenum over the past month, i wish i had more than just sand paper and a dremel.
All bolted down, this was a pain in the ass with just me
got on the greddy fmic gb
and over the last couple of days i have been putting the engine bay back together.
finished polishing the plenum, its still not perfect, ill work on it more eventually, and i wasnt happy enough with the "polished" pipes from greddy so i went over those with some polish to and switched out all the blue couplers for red and some t-bolt clamps.
thats as far as i got as of today. I will post more pics as i finish it up. I never realized how much it took to have some of those perfect looking engines and engine bays like some of you, I tried and cleaned everything as best i could and it doesnt look half as good as some of the engines on this board.
thanks for the comments, havnt driven it yet, still not done and have a pretty big to-do list still.
I ran into a problem with the oil cooler, i have this one: http://www.3sx.com/store/comersus_vi...dProduct=24895 and now i have to fit it in there with the fmic. I dont know where though, i see people put the stock ones resting on the y pipes of the ic piping but this one is almost horizontal when i put it in there so it wouldnt really be doing much. Anyone have any suggestions?
