Thanks John! I really appreciate it bro.
Well here is a tid-bit of news for you guys. My lovely Ross 9:1 Pistons and Forged rods came in and the machine shop FINALLY got back to us. I'm still trying to decide whether the info they gave me is good or not. My crank....is done and I will need a new one however they can get me a forged one(not sure if new or reman.) with full bearing kit for $320. If my crank had been reusable it would have been about $200 dollars worth of machining plus the cost of bearings so I guess I am getting a deal for a much better product and seeing as how I am looking to push 500-550whp I need the best I can get. So yea, it looks like the block will be back by the end of next week and the project will really start to take off at that time. As always, I will keep you guys updated and I think there will be a lot more video and picture updates from now on cuz typing is a beast hahaha.

Upon further examination.
You must have ran the engine without oil. That would explain the spun bearings. Where was the oil leak?

Oh it wasn't leaking anymore. It did get ran with very little oil when I first did the conversion because I didn't realize that the stock oil pressure sender got bent while I was removing it. Thus it didn't go back into the block properly and leaked a butt load of oil out. I didn't realize that problem until I only had about a quart and a half of oil left in the engine. Maybe that is what killed it all. It was back in July of 2007 when that happened.
I only spun one bearing but that one got spun BAD. Infact, it practically exploded lol. I just realized that my car has been broken since January 9th, 2008....sadness fills my heart ![]() |

I dont like blocks that spun bearings. Back home we have a saying "once it spun once it'll spin again" You first need to find out why it spun in the first place. Their is a reason for everything. Secondly you need to have the block sized, make sure those journals are round. Of course hone it and tank it, then paint the block Next clean the oil lines THOROUGHLY or replace them. I would get either some new lines or braided steel, I didnt particularly like that nylon line setup you had for the returns. Back home once a block thrashed a bearing as bad as you described we'd dump the block all together and start with a new one. Here of course you can have blocks line bored and honed. Also regarding the heads, IPS has an awesome deal going on heads. I think one of their already built heads plus a set of 272 cams will really make your 3s launch out. Most port jobs on a V6 head will start at 1500 anyway. The IPS head your getting a proven head, with new ferra valves and titanium valvesprings for a pretty good price. IIRC it was a rod bearing and not a journal bearing. The head job I am getting down costs like 1/10 of the price of IPS heads lol and everything is the same except for oversized valves. But yes The block is at the machine shop so I will make sure they check everything twice.

UPDATE (4/28/08) Wow...I just realized that I haven't posted in this thread in over a month. Hahaha. Well let's see here....so far with this build I have had so many people try to screw me over that I've lost count. The guy I bought the tranny from never sent the flywheel and all the other parts that I had purchased from him. Then I had a FIASCO with the purchase of the pistons lol. To add further to the madness, the machine shop took its SWEEEEEET TIME on my block, I just finally got it back today so hopefully this project will finally start to pick up this week. So yea, my block is bored .035 over and it is all 8.3:1 Wiseco piston'd up haha. We still got a LONG way to go tho before it is complete so we will see how quickly it all comes together. Well enough talk, here are the only pics I have as of this moment: ![]() ![]() ![]() |
