You can't just port something and call it a day. Things like that require HOURS of time on a flow bench. Just because it looks pretty doesn't mean it will perform better. You could end up choking the incoming air by making the ports too wide if the heads cannot support the amount of extra air you're letting in! Not to mention that you aren't moving nearly enough air for the stock intake plenum to become noticeably restrictive.
Read this and see for yourself that at this point, you certainly do not need a custom manifold. http://www.popularhotrodding.com/tec...lds/index.html

Oh yea yea...I'm sorry I didn't clarify earlier. This plenum thing is a side project. I wasn't going to be putting this on anytime soon. Maybe I should have waited to post it until I was actually done lol. I won't be putting this on for a LONG LONG time. I was just trying to experiment to see what's actually good with this stuff. I know porting is a science and I wasn't trying to screw with anything on my car haha. I just used my stock NA plenum because I wasn't going to get it sold anyway due to the VICS gear being stripped. I will be using the stock TT plenum for a LONG LONG time. This was just an idea I had the other day when I was going thru parts that I needed to sell or throw away. I was planning to finish it one day and then do a dyno pull or two with it on vs the stock plenum just for some laughs. As far as this build goes, I really do want to extract as much power as I can out of it but I don't want to do things wrong either. I believe that the stock intake plenum isn't as efficient as it could be but it is prob alot more efficient than my idea lol.
I am glad however to hear your take on things and I may just end up buying an intake plenum from a vendor. The intake plenum thing is gonna be one of the last "modifications" that I do in an attempt to make my setup more efficient. Dee and 3startuna, I really do respect your opinions especially as they are coming from members who know a heck of alot more than I do and I can see where my design could be lacking and I definitely don't want to waste any money at this time. I was just fooling around haha. As always, thanks for your input guys!!

yeah man the header would be an easier thing to fab. Really u should flow bench that as well, but u can get away with messing that up easier than with the intake.
As for atermarket intakes i havent seen one thats better than the stocker. Our stocker is actually well designed. Even though it may look retarded. lol |

Yea I mean for the exhaust manifolds I am just gonna bust out my DN style ones that I bought the other day. I guess I won't even bother with the custom intake manifold. I didn't know that it was that crucial as far as length of runners determining low end torque vs high end hp and size and shape of end tank changing things too. Well I am glad I haven't paid a dime for this idea lol. The whole reason behind this idea was wanting to use the Q45 90mm TB. I guess it really isn't that big of a deal lol.

-- Alec, your the best sport ever! Not many members can take criticism that well. Honestly with your setup you already have a hell of a FWDTT. Get all the bugs worked out and work on your next real problem- Traction . |

As for a little update, I got the stock oil lines so all I am waiting on is the braided nylon hose and I will start tearing the car apart lol. |
