dont think im just pissing in your coffee man. Im just saying research it, This thing is a science, you cant just piece stuff together and expect to run fast. That wont work man.

With out actual test data there is no reliable way to know if you got it right or not. Trust me you can make something that looks like it should flow better and ends up being alot worse.

If you really want to make something or do another mod take a swing at the exhaust manifolds. Make an equal length manifold to replace you stock log manifolds. This is where your going to make power and see good gains. Designing a good intake is trickier than a exhaust manifold, research both though and see what your getting into. The size and shape of the plenum (aluminum tank) especially can have a big effect, get that wrong and ull just make a more restrictive intake.

believe me I've had to design both in the past, ive already done the research so i know what im saying.
I hate to say it Alec, but I agree with 3startuna on this one 100%. Porting is a complicated science. Your design may work-- but it may not. Also, you don't have a baseline bro to see if it will net gains or actually take power. I would stick with a stock plenum right now until you dyno and then try another run with your ported plenum and see if it makes or takes power. IMO polishing the ports and keeping the stock shape may have been a better beginning. But I could be wrong. Keep us posted!

You can't just port something and call it a day. Things like that require HOURS of time on a flow bench. Just because it looks pretty doesn't mean it will perform better. You could end up choking the incoming air by making the ports too wide if the heads cannot support the amount of extra air you're letting in! Not to mention that you aren't moving nearly enough air for the stock intake plenum to become noticeably restrictive.

Read this and see for yourself that at this point, you certainly do not need a custom manifold.

Oh yea yea...I'm sorry I didn't clarify earlier. This plenum thing is a side project. I wasn't going to be putting this on anytime soon. Maybe I should have waited to post it until I was actually done lol. I won't be putting this on for a LONG LONG time. I was just trying to experiment to see what's actually good with this stuff. I know porting is a science and I wasn't trying to screw with anything on my car haha. I just used my stock NA plenum because I wasn't going to get it sold anyway due to the VICS gear being stripped. I will be using the stock TT plenum for a LONG LONG time. This was just an idea I had the other day when I was going thru parts that I needed to sell or throw away. I was planning to finish it one day and then do a dyno pull or two with it on vs the stock plenum just for some laughs. As far as this build goes, I really do want to extract as much power as I can out of it but I don't want to do things wrong either. I believe that the stock intake plenum isn't as efficient as it could be but it is prob alot more efficient than my idea lol.

I am glad however to hear your take on things and I may just end up buying an intake plenum from a vendor. The intake plenum thing is gonna be one of the last "modifications" that I do in an attempt to make my setup more efficient.

Dee and 3startuna, I really do respect your opinions especially as they are coming from members who know a heck of alot more than I do and I can see where my design could be lacking and I definitely don't want to waste any money at this time. I was just fooling around haha. As always, thanks for your input guys!!

yeah man the header would be an easier thing to fab. Really u should flow bench that as well, but u can get away with messing that up easier than with the intake.

As for atermarket intakes i havent seen one thats better than the stocker. Our stocker is actually well designed. Even though it may look retarded. lol

Yea I mean for the exhaust manifolds I am just gonna bust out my DN style ones that I bought the other day. I guess I won't even bother with the custom intake manifold. I didn't know that it was that crucial as far as length of runners determining low end torque vs high end hp and size and shape of end tank changing things too. Well I am glad I haven't paid a dime for this idea lol. The whole reason behind this idea was wanting to use the Q45 90mm TB. I guess it really isn't that big of a deal lol.

-- Alec, your the best sport ever! Not many members can take criticism that well. Honestly with your setup you already have a hell of a FWDTT. Get all the bugs worked out and work on your next real problem- Traction .

I appreciate it Dee. I also really do appreciate you and 3star taking the time to help me correct the error of my ways lol. Seriously, I really don't have money to waste, neither do i want to. Also, I'm just bouncing ideas out there. It wouldn't be very realistic of me to think that all of my ideas were pure genius lol. As far as traction goes, I never boost in first gear, no reason to. I don't seem to have too many probs in 2nd gear at the moment thanks to my sticky tires and solid engine mounts lol. We'll see tho once I get everything tuned out 100% correctly. I love being FWD tho, I wouldn't have it any other way.

As for a little update, I got the stock oil lines so all I am waiting on is the braided nylon hose and I will start tearing the car apart lol.

hello

Do you guys use the TT inlet manifold for performance reasons only?

(I've thrown a DOHC in my aussie magna (we only got SOHC) and now looking at TT on the cheap as im a student)
